Default A833 Question?

I am supposed to have the "Hemi" 4 speed in my 70 Challenger...

I have some basic questions.... How much and what kind of gear lube doe this thing use/hold? What's the best way to check the fluid level... How do I tell if it's a "Hemi" 4 speed?

This is a street / strip car...with a 440......

Thanks Alot....

If i remember correctly, the hemi boxes have 18 splines on the input shaft. Hope this helps.

Yup, the HEMI trans are 18 spline. Use Mobil 1 synthetic in it. 2 quarts will do.

I just pump lube in until it begins to ooze out the fill hole. If you paid too much for it and it shifts like crap...you probably have a hemibox. Just kidding! I have a couple myself. They are, however, harder shifting than the 23 spline boxes...

Post I agree

I agree with hemigtx I just get some of those squeeze bottles that gear lube comes in and filler up rill it starts coming out the check plug hole. I use only synthetic gear oil in the tranny and the rear end, it picked me up a tenth in my times using these two. Not a whole lot, but it was the cheapest tenth I ever gained.
