PIA Axle seal
Well, one side went in great. The other....
I've been using a large socket to drive them in, but it might be just a tad too big. The space is so tight going in I've ruined the seal and will have to get another. It is stripping the paint off the seal it is so tight. Anyone got a great way of doing this for the real stubborn ones? |

If one side is going in easier than the other, I'm wondering if there's a bit of rust or damaged metal in there holding you up. Might be worth a light touch with the die grinder. That being said I've been cursing bearings and seals a lot lately for poor tolerances. You may find the replacement fits better if you can get good quality parts that don't come from China.

That "paint" on the seal is a sealer. It scrapes off most of the time. I just use a 2x4 and hammer to drive axle seals in.
