Default I made my goal! Torqueflite will work in S/G!!

After fattening up the idle on my injecter, my car started to react quicker on the launch, to the tune of three red lights in a row! I normally run 1.07 in my box, but went -.033,-.015,-.009, all in a row before the damn rearend let go! So, calculating that a .000 reaction time with 1.100 in the box would equal a .400 pro tree, I made it! I can now go red against a pro tree! 60 foots were consistant, 1.295, 1.296, 1.298, 1.294!! Look out super gas!

Thats excellent Greg. Those 60' numbers are great I was wondering what your 60' times where with that beast. What brand converter are you running?

Dynamic by Lupo for converter. It stalls about 5500. I may still have more left in the 60s, as the tires have 80 + passes on them, and these times where with a rather bad pinion angle, causing enough vibration to destroy the tranny! The center twisted on the tubes. Too bad the housing is now junk!

I am so glad to hear this. I am building a small block car, and wanted to run a 904 for super gas. Everyone has told me the torqueflite brake releases too slow and the 60' times wouldn't be as consistant. I think I will try the 904 now.

Since you'll be in division I, I should keep my mouth shut, but notice only ONE of Greg's RT's were capable of going red with a .400 tree.

Yes, I am Division One, about 25 mi from Maple Grove. I am afraid my car will be too heavy to be competive in Super Gas, so I might be running Super Street. I seen your T-Bird at the Keystone Nationals, will you be at the Dutch Classics ? I will be there with my friend who is running Super Gas.

I think Super Street would be a good choice for you. You can keep the Torqueflite and you won't be going 30 mph slower than everyone else. Super Street is still a very tough class, but it's a great place to learn how it's done. Yes, I will be at the Dutch Classic. I hope to be there with the 'Cuda as well, but my machinist buddy is off fighting in the Pro Stock wars and the engine is not done yet. I'll also be there this weekend for the remainder of the National event. I was there this past weekend for the remainder of the points race which was postponed from May. I won that one.

Some other facts about those passes that may influence how you veiw them; 4000 rpm launch off Tbrake. Rolling out of beams, not pulling up and out. Car may still have a little in it as It got better when I fattened it up, so a little more fuel might take another .01 out of it. Also, The average of the three good lights is .4123 , not too shabby, as I am not that consistant on the tree.
The main fact is, IT WENT RED ! That means the vehicle can do the job. The rest is up to me.
The new faster bulbs have made the differance, and most any trans can compete now, it just takes a little work to figure out a combo. If my tires had less than 85 passes on them it might have been a little quicker also, as I could have hit it harder with a higher launch.
I find it best to work up from a lower launch rpm and see how the car works, than to blow the tires off trying to launch at wide open throttle .

I also run a torqueflite and want to try some Super rod next year. My question is where are you going to throttle stop ( and what type stop) to run the 9.90 or 6.40's for the 1/8th. My Cuda run's 5.80's to 5.90's @ 2900+ lbs. in the 1/8. I've been told not to stop it in low gear like all the powerglides.
Any advice appreciated.

Probably the best method is to get it into second fast, then throttle it, and into high early as well so you don't have to be on the stop long. I have talked to racers that tried top stop it in low, and the car has too much gear to be consistant coming off the stop in low.
