Default Coil resistance for 318

I bought a new Accel coil for my 318 c.i. engine. It has 1.4 ohms resistance primary, 9200 ohms resistance primary. My service manual lists coil resistance at primary should be 1.41 to 1.55 ohms, and secondary 9400 to 11700 ohms. This seems good to me. Any objections to my judgement would be appreciated.

I have the Accel coil on my 318 poly w/Mopar electronic ign.. I bought the Universal 8140 coil first and had it mounted horizontal. It would overheat and fail after running awhile. An oldtimer told me that coil had to be vertical or the plates become exposed on the bottom and arc. I mounted it vertical and it worked ok. However it seemed a bit weak still so I got the correct coil for the electronic ign, the 8145, and all was well thereafter.

Rich, did you ever check the resistance levels to see if they are close to his numbers? I'm wondering what the variances are even in a shelf of new coils...

You should be fine. For the record, most ohmeters are incapable of very accurate measurements, the lower in resistance you go. A slight change in your test probes can affect readings.

thanks for the help. I'm gonna use it but I'll mount it vertically somewhere instead of on the intake factory spot.
