As this was not performance related, I moved it to a more appropriate forum.

You will need to get the Jeep to a dealership. They can get you a new FOB and marry it to the computer. They should also be able to disable the factory alarm system.

I dunno if this is gonna work but how they used to work is that you lock and close all the doors. Then unlock the door (I can't remember drivers or passanger side, but I think it was passanger side) with the key. That's how they did it with older vehicles. It's worth a try.

I didn't think the Cherokee got the FOBs until '99.

Try this. Key in the ignition and windows down, and doors closed. reconnect the battery. remove keys from ignition. lock doors from inside. now insert the key in the lock. Turn the key to unlock, lock, and then unlock.

Scam tool will clear it and fix the alarm part......
But your still going to need the right key to program it with the unit.

If the lock cylinder switches are any good on it, just reconnect the battery (alarm may sound may not until it sees unauthorized entry) put the key in driver door lock cylinder lock and unlock it, if that doesnt work try the passenger door, then the liftgate until it shuts off. once it sees the a lock cylinder switch input it should disarm, the switches were prone to failure thus having to try every door until it shuts off.
