Default Alternator connection

The attached photo is of an alternator I bought to install on a SB 71 Cuda. It has one connection that is marked field, the other is ground. The existing wiring harness has two wires that attach to the alternator, one dark green and the other dark blue with a tracer and according to the wiring diagram they are both field attachments. Question is will his alternator work with a modification to the harness or should I get a different alternator.

That one is setup for a single field lead design. It could be made to work. You will need to sever the ones connection to ground. Then connect it to one of your field leads.

Ehostler

Could you give me a little more detail about doing this modification?

The pre-'70 alternator has one field powered and the other grounded, to make it work on a '70 and later you need to replace the grounded field brush holder with the newer style, the brush and use an insulated washer under the attaching screw. The newer brush has a spade terminal for the second field connector.
