Steering Column Help
I am pulling the K-member out of my 72 duster, slant 6 car. I have everything disassembled, except the steering column. I can not figure out how the steering column detaches from the steering box....HELP.
It is a automatic column shift, manual steering box. Tried to force the pin out neer the coupler at the steering box, no luck, what do I need to do. Thanks. |

... And get a big punch and an even bigger hammer to get that pin out.

Been there, done that, just ask DWC! They're right, there should be a roll pin in the coupler near the steering box. Squirt it with PB Blaster, get a roll pin punch set from Sears, and go to it! Just make sure that you're pounding it the correct direction (so that it falls out).
Dan PS: It must have taken me a month off and on to finally get mine out. |

Soak it first!
Beating on the input shaft to hard is not a good thing
