Default Is this worth the cash?

Stock '78 truck 440 w/452 heads. Worth the time and money or is the '78 some-what fragile?

The block was built to stock specs.

What's the cash? It depends on who rebuilt it and how.

the '78 block is just as good as any other year of block and can be built to the same specs with the same reliability as the other years.

Complete short block, 452 heads and all gear that buttons up between isn't installed. Everything is there, it was just overhauled, but I don't know if it was a .30' or what. The seller I'm talkin' to want $250 for it. I just needed to know if they were strong blocks.

Anything I should look for in or on the block to see how worn or good it is?

Sounds fair to me. I wouldn't worry about it being a '78.

There is not a fragile 440 and $250 sounds very reasonable, especially if it is put together right. If the engine had been in and running real good that makes the price even better. If it has never been run then treat it as if you are buying some parts for $250 that happen to be assembled and will need to be disassembled, inspected and reassembled. I do think that is still a lot of parts for the money, but might take more work to use them if you are not sure how it ran or if it has never run.

I won't buy anything until next Tuesday, I've gotta wait and see where the price of books falls for the fall. (College, it's like what, $100 a book?)

School first, car second.

Or truck, depends on what needs work, daily driver or fun car

What should I look for if I go take a look at the block and heads, other than look for the obvious cracked block?

Thanks for the feed back guys. Ya'll are the most trusted source of Mopar related info my dad and I have.

What Kind of small block stuff you need a 360 car or truck pan prehaps? Is that pan a rear sump of front sump? Do you have a pickup tube with it?

Really I don't fool with small blocks. A car BB pan would work, would trade up for aftermarket if you have one.

Think it MAY still have the dip tube, have to look.

Your the one in Grayson right?
