Default Need help. 3500 wont idle.

Going over tomorrow to help out a friend and dont want to look like an idiot. He has a 1990 3500 Dump Truck with a 360 (5.2l) in it and it wont idle. No codes, sounds like it runs good. He claims there's a throttle body on it, but has no rails on the heads so I'm thinking its a 2bl LA motor. Gonna check the obvious (look for vacuum leaks ect) but Its not the same 360 that's in my Ramcharher and just wondering if there is any known issues I should be wary of.

So it has 5.9L 360 that is throttle body injected. First thing I'd look at is codes.

A faulty IAC motor, MAP sensor, ECT sensor all could cause a idle problem.

Laffing at myself at the typo (I know its not a 5.2....). Over the phone he says its not throwing codes on his scanner and it runs fine until you take your foot off the gas. I figure its a sensor or a vacuum leak. He's a competent mechanic (backyard) but a Ford guy. I guess a day of "lets try this" is in order. Fortunately the weather doesn't really suck yet .

A strong possibility is simply a dirty throttle body.

Well, first looks today and there are a few issues. Throttle body is black inside. My friend is spending tonight cleaning it up after yanking it. Its missing the air cleaner and I've got few to try tomorrow and most of the vacuum lines up top are missing/cracked/run wrong so at least we have a plan for tomorrow. No codes so that's a good thing I guess. Turns out the truck has been sitting around 6 months without a gas tank so it probably just needs a good clean out.
