Default AFBs

If you are buying these new, I'd go with the Edelbrocks as you can buy a calibration kit for them. Not much is available new for Carters.

The CS series AFBs had unique part numbers and I would guess a richer F/A calibration. Other than that, I think they are the same, BUT I've never owned a CS AFB.

The OE carb is better. The current AFB's by Carter and Edelbrock are cast by the same company, Weber. The jets , rods and other parts will swap over for tuneing dutys.
Edel. does something different with there electric choke kits. Just look at the electric choke kit compared to the Carter kit. Why is the Carters simple?
I would find an AVS over the AFB myself. The secondary is tuneable with a twist of the screw driver.
If you find an AVS, you'll need the covers plates for the rods from an AFB, modern or old to swap onto the AVS. The AVS use's 3 step rods for better fuel delivery control and emmisions. The AFB rods can be used once you get the cover plates for the rods.
