Ride hight
I normally measure from the chassis to the ground and just under my bumper bolts so its the same place on both sides.

Common method
The common way that I've seen on mopar manuals to measure ride height is to make the measurement from the big lower bolts that attacht the chassis to the car body. make the measurement from the bolts to the ground on a flat even surface. Every time you make an adjustment make the car bounce a couple of times pushing down on the bumper, hood etc. to set the suspension and make a new measurement.

It depends if you are looking to make it lower than stock. just be aware that If the lower control arm bump stops are closer than 1 inch to the frame with the car sitting you could rip the LCA out when going over a good bump..
don't ask how I know..OK I'll tell ya , had a 73 that bottomed out and broke the control arm at the torsion bar mounts..ouch |
