I believe the engine size, 198 or 225, will be a part of the start of the engine number...
I may be wrong, however. These engines respond well to any form of hotting up provided you don't ask them to rev to extreme levels. Build one for good solid mid-range torque and you'll have a useful engine. |

Don't let anyone talk you into going too far with any modifications...
A mild cam grind, a mild head job, keep standard valve sizes and get a 3-way seat cut, find a twin carby manifold and headers. That will be nice, you won't have to rev it too hard, it will last well. |

Find a 2bbl intake. You can find a MP 6 cylinder book and get the porting templates. Most of your gains will be in the bowl area behind the valves.
Engine builder oversize valves are $72 on Ebay. Go to www.slantsix.com and check out the Erson group cam buy. They sell a cam designed by Doug Dutra for the street. Plus any other cam you might want. Might scan the Craigslist in your area for free or cheap slants. That way you can get one to build while you drive the one you have. BTW Ray is from OZ so you might need to translate it into North Carolinian |

How come I don't have to translate back the other way?

"hotting up" is a term foreign to us "Yanks." I've been living in the South long enough to be able to translate Yankee to the Southerners and visa versa. |

Huh!
'A833' is a term almost unknown in Australia, but I've got a nice stash of them here in every guise in which they came (almost). What we seriously lack is those 198 rods... You 'Yanks' have all the luck! |
