Default 1972 Valiant - should I buy?

I can buy a 4 door 72 valiant for $400. 198 Slant 6, no power anything!
Yeah it's got some rust in the front fenders, and a few spots on the floor, but the frame looks solid. Runs perfect of course these motors never seem to die.

Is it in good shape like this one?

Pretty sure this is a '72, but it might be a '73.

Ray we don't have the cool looking rooflines and tailights like you guys in OZ do!

Buy the car if you want to play with it. The connecting rods in the 198 are a rare find. I own a 198. It will push the Duster down the road reaaly well.

4 door cars are generally worth less then a simular 2 door car. being a slant & a small one at that, it's not worth much. Just my opinion.

Someone will trade you a running 225 for the rods out of that motor. They also use the 198 crank to stroke a 170!

The 198 is a mighty little motor. Mine turns 10.58's in the 1/8th

The slant certainly has potential. but stock 198's are slugs. If what you say is true that would make that Valiant a good "parts car".

Uh... I can send you over a 245 Hemi 6 if you want to blow off those 273s and 318 2bbs!

Fit up a 904 or 727 or an A833 or A230 behind it, enjoy the ride and blow the minds of those who get to peek under the bon... sorry, hood!

Mine has a stock cam. And some serious head work.

If someone had a set of 198 rods close enoguh to me I would trade them for my spare 225. 198 rods are longer than the 225's.

If I wanted just a cruiser out of that car I would drop a BBD 2bbl on there. That is what I am doing to my Dart right now.

I may put the mild MP cam in there as I think the stocker is iffy.
