I have heard of some guy in California that imports them (I have no details about him) For what it would cost & the power the hemi 6 makes you would be better off putting a small block V8 in your car it would be easier & cheaper.

There are a number of reasons a Hemi 6 is a better option than a small block:
1. Lighter, about 160lbs lighter, so you car gains agility and is easier on the front end. 2. Fuel efficiency, it will be more economical. 3. Easier to work on in the engine bay. 4. 'Wow!' factor. People will look and wonder what it is... those who don't think it's a Chevy 6, that is. There is work currently being done to make up street-usable (and by that I mean very docile if needed) Hemi 245s that will produce well in excess of 300hp if roused for export to the US. They will come with good H-beam rods from a US maker, forged pistons, modifications to overcome all proven Hemi 6 deficiencies, a full workshop manual, all bits needed for fitting in place of a slant or small block and a workshop manual. They will be set up to use with either an A833 or one of the small block autos. There will be options, too. Instead of a flowbench-modified iron head you can option up to an aluminum aftermarket head, even a steel crank if anyone wants to go to that extent. The intention is to produce an engine that will be economical and easy to drive in street use, but which will sit up and take notice when the throttle is opened wide. There will be a US-based spare parts service and online help with any queries. Unmodified engines will also be available, fully rebuilt of course. Bear in mind, however, that a dual choke carby version of the original 245 was only a few horsepower shy of what the 318 was in standard condition... Hemi 6s are no slugs! |

Prices aren't yet determined, and we've yet to suss out shipping completely...
But if you e.mail me directly, as suggested a week ago, I can keep you in the picture. Perhaps you can even let me know more about your actual needs. The 'importer' is a business yet to be set up officially, but involves myself, my nephew (a successful race engine builder) and a US partner. Once again, the e.mail address is as below: |

One thing you have to remember about the "Hemi" 6. It is not really a hemi head motor, it more closely resembles a big Ford 6. Transmission selection gets somewhat funky too.

Funky? In what way?
They're basically a small block bellhousing pattern. Some are a small block pattern, others can be re-drilled to small block pattern. I've not ever seen the chambers on a big Ford 6, but I would seriously doubt that the valves are inclined to a partial hemi style. There are plenty of naysayers about the Hemi 6, I don't know why. If you don't look closely at the engine you can come to all sorts of conclusions, but some will be wrong. |

I normally do hang out at Moparts (well, constantly actually, lol) And as Rug mentioned I do have some 265's here along with lots of assorted spares, new and used. (Along with Aussie Charger spare parts as well..sheet metal, glass, grills, dash bits, etc) I've brought over a bunch of the cars (and engines) over the years.. |

OZhemi, are you in the states? How much would a hemi cost to be shipped to Kansas? I'm thinking about putting 1 into an american Valiant. I think it would be unique.

I'm in Southern California (Garden Grove as it mentions in my location)
I have no idea what shipping to you would be, I don't really get into that. You might check with some truck transport companies and see what they say ? I sold a few to a guy in the mid-west before actually, and he just drove out here to pick them up ! (He bought 3 at one time, and in a Cummins powered Ram he said it was worth while just going for a scenic drive |

Figure around $1200 or so for a complete 265 and auto transmission.. (just a used take out type engine)
Also have a 265 long block, and a 245 short (and a few assorted used heads) depending on just what you wanted to put together. The 245s are cheaper of course since they are more common to find these days. |
