Hey guy's,
I know that the Slant 6 has a huge following in the USA however have any of you heard of the 245/265 C.I "HEMI" sixes that were developed in Australia? When they were released in 1970 they were 18kg lighter and around 40% more powerful than the 225 that we had out here. The following year they came out in our Charger complete with triple 45mil Webers and in a 1750kg car ran 14.1's. (I know that those numbers probably equate to your slowest muscle car of the era however it did out accelerate it's competitors namely the 350 and 351 in similair sized cars). I would love to see a 265 in a Duster/Dart as it would certainly be an easy conversion (namely where a slant resides,a 265 will slip right in!)-add turbo/blower/injection and you could honestly see low 12's,high elevens etc with reliability thrown in. Hope I've got you guy's thinking! |

Oh yeah!!!
YEAH MAN!!!!
I have heard of these, and they were VERY wicked!!I would love to have one of these but I'll bet shipping costs & finding one would be cost prohibitive. (By the way...14.1 quarters are respectable for quite a few musclecars.) Hope Ya own one ya lucky dog!!! I have been working on cars since 1976 so... I just haven't decided to REALLY play w/one of these things until now. Great engine though. ENJOY Carnut |

Looking at the exchange rate which is roughly half (i.e $1aud is worth $.50cUSD) I would think that the cost would be quite acceptable.
Although I am not aware of shipping costs etc give "HEMI PERFORMANCE" a try on www.hemiperformance.com.au Availiabilty of blocks do not appear to be a problem considering the last hemi was sold in 1981! I hope I've got your creative juices flowing! Cheers, Mick |
