Default Header problem

Hi. I am having a problem with my hooker headers touching the oil pan, and not allowing a flush mount at the cylinder head. Anyone else had this problem?

You may have to clearance the oil pan and/or header. Which means hammer the pan or tube of the header depending on how much room you need. Denting a header tube won't effect performance.

Default Header problem

Thanks JV. I didn't want to dent the oil pan if I don't have to. I Have the motor on an engine stand right now. I wonder if I could heat the header up and put a bend on it by putting a pipe in the collector. Or would it buckle on me.? I have not read any other posts where this has happened with the hooker super comps. Again thanks.

I'm sure you could heat the pipe and bend it. Might be easier to heat the ends of the tube you are trying to move and have a helper apply pressure with a big channel lock or maybe a c-clamp depending on how much room you need.

it sounds like the wrong header. secondly heat shield the pipe next to the pan. headers run hot and will cook the engine oil. also watch the distance to the starter. exhaust heat destroys starters ie most factory starters came with a heat shield. beating pipes and bending them is one way to do it but it looks like the car got in a train wreck..i would cut and reweld them.. if it is the wrong header set then look at getting a weld your own set.
