Angry Slant Six has no Power!!!!!

OK,

I got my Duster back, with my newly built slant six about a couple of weeks ago. I decked the head .75, put a big cam in it, and bored it .30 over. I just passed my breakin milage, and I went to see what it could do. Well, I gassed it off of the line and got nothing! Plus I just about killed it. Then I tried to do a smoke show, and I couldn't even break the tires loose!!
Now the Guys at the engine place said they couldn't jhook up the kick down lever because of the dual headers getting in the way, So is this the problem? Or is it that I have the stock slant six rear end still in my car?
Let me know please.

Thanks,

Jake

Theres got to be some trick to hook up the tranny stuff. The stock rear ratio is for the hwy-way. A change in ratio will help tons.

Those engine shop guys are morons. It was too much trouble for them to bend up a new KD rod? I've got Clifford dual outlet Street Rod headers in my '71 Valiant with the 225 and 904. They didn't get in the way of the KD (almost), and a couple minor bends fixed it once and for all.
If you have 2.76 gears, try some 3.23's. That will help your bottom end a lot, but rev limits your top end. You won't notice it if you don't already drive faster than 75 for extended periods of time.
Ask the machine shop idiots if they will give you a free transmission when you get done frying your clutches after running with no KD hooked up.
Did you deck the head 0.075"? Cutting off 3/4 of an inch would probably have you in the water jackets.
What is a "big" cam? 270 degrees? 280? 290? 300? 310? 320? More? How much lift on intake and exhaust? We need DETAILS to give accurate answers! What carburetor do you have? How big is the exhaust pipe(s)? Regardless of which axle you have, what is the RATIO? More information please! Then we can give good answers.

Question Cam?

My guess is that the cam is too much for the stock converter and gears. Slants are very picky about using the right combination of parts. Remember, you are only dealing with 225 cubes. Miss the combo and you have a definite PIG!

what do you have for carburation? 2bbl? 4bbl? 1bbl? if you have the 1bbl, that could be your problem. not enough fuel delivery with a 1bbl carb.
