Hey you /6 heads! How much overbore can the 170 cube motor take? Any good recommendations for upgrades to build a high rpm motor? Is the range of 6000 - 7000 rpm out of the question for a slant, or is this doable? Any help appreciated.

Thumbs up

170 can go .100" over, giving a 3.5" bore. I think 7000 is possible, if the valvetrain is set up for it. I have a friend who turns a cast crank 225 6750. Definitely not anywhere near a stock motor though. The key to a Slant is headwork, and lots of it. Remember though, you'll still only have about 180" of motor. Dennis
