I bought a 1963 22' Calkins Bartender (it's literally a boat) in early January. According to the previous owner, it's powered by a Chrysler 222 Slant6 of 1966 vintage. After doing some minor tune up stuff, I'm led to believer that my timing chain may have slipped (or it's just worn) and will have to replace it or reposition the gears. This now leads to my question, is it really a 225 block, and was it actually built in 1966? As I will have to buy some new parts, I will need to know these things! (I hate buying the wrong parts :> )
I can't find an ID plate on the block, but the following numbers are cast on the side;
2806830-7 1192: BH
AAWI

I'm hoping these numbers can help me find out what I need to know as I've been to 5 Chrysler dealerships trying to find info and nooene has manuals that go back that far.
Speaking of manuals, if anyone has a line on manuals for the marine, or even the standard Slant 6, I would be very interested in getting ahold of them.

the slant six has been around since 1960 and manual's are pretty easy to come buy.I see a lot of them at swop meet's but never for a marine applicatoin.Mopar performance has 2 and one is for 6 cylinders only but this is mostly performance tip's you mite try Hann's or chilton's .I have quite a few book's if you need any help let me know.also look in the performance section on this site under (Heads or Tails) and Tim's and speedy's slant six page.

I have a 66 225 motor. The casting number on it is 2463430-17. Just above this number is the block casting date (not to be confused with the motor assembly date) of 03086 or March 8, 1966. The engine serial number is stamped on top of the block behind the coil. On mine it is: B 225 6 06, the "B" meaning it is a 66 motor and the rest meaning it is a 225 assembled on June 6. I don't know about your casting number but look for the casting date and the assembly date on your block and you should have some info about the year of the motor. Actually I think the 1192 might indicate a casting date of January 19, 1962 (or maybe 1972???).

Regardless of the year, the timing chain is the same.
