Some early slant sixes had two to pick from. A one piece one barrel aluminum intake and the much sought after Hyper Pak aluminum four barrel intake. Latter around '78- '83 or so, there were some two piece one and two barrel intakes ( two pieces welded together ). In the late 80s, Mopar Perf did a one piece two barrel, called it a M-1. They claim the M-1 has bigger ports but they measure the same on mine. You have five common aftermarket intakes available; Offenhauser, two one barrels and a four barrel; Clifford, a four barrel, a repo Hyper Pak and a tripple Webber set up. There are some more obscure Austrailan castings and maybe some marine or export castings that were available at one time. I have one and two barrel two piece manifolds I probably won't need. If you need them $25 for the one barrel, $50 for the two barrel, prices include shipping.
Headers, Clifford, Hooker and Mopar Perf have them. Mopar Perf is the lowest cost, they may hang a little low and they may be on the verge of being discontinued. It's the one I run and it's OK the the price, around $150.

The MP piece is discontinued. I have been told the Super 6 intake can have porosity problems (vacuum leaks) So they need to be painted. I have even seen 1 bbl factory intakes in aluminum.

Default I'd go aftermarket

I was down at the Daytona Swap Meet last weekend and actually found a numbers-matching Hyper-Pak setup: 4bbl manifold and split headers. The price reflected it, too: $2500

Jerry, the guy with the beard and GMC van has that manifold!! I saw that intake up here at the Music City Mopar show last year. The intake has several of the runners welded up, and one of the exhaust manifolds has been welded up too! $2500? PASS!! Everyone knows that combo in the Southeast! It has more miles on it than a New York taxicab! Hasn't been on an engine in years to get those miles!

I saw it there too. Bad shape. Are you a club member or just stopped by. If you dont know it the show has been moved to the wave pool off Brieley this year due to the old Govs. idea of raising the park fees to get his new drive way paved.

I saw that intake/exhaust set at the Indy Cylinder Heads swap in Indianapolis this month. The intake was welded in many places and the exhaust was welded in a couple. Intake was painted gray, and the exhaust had been sprayed with cast iron paint. I hope no one ever pays that price for that junk.

dwc43 I am a member of the club. I have been to 2 of the last 3 meetings. Nice group of people. Bought a M-1 2bbl intake for the 198 off the club prez. With a Holley 2bbl off a 318. I am wondering what they are planning for cruises.

Not sure yet about the cruises. I'm working weekends so I have missed the darn meetings so far. Happens a lot. Just lost a contract so I will know Mon. how my hours will change and I hope to make some meetings soon. I know they should cruise cool springs. That's the one that used to meet at back yard burgers just off 65 in Franklin. Now they meet in the cool springs mall and have a band too. We've been going to the Columbia show to which I think is in May.

Did you go to last years show? I had the orange RoadRunner parked under the tree line beside that '71 Charger Superbee with the Hemi in it. I got a nice show winner, but that thing humbled me a bit.

Hey there are still a few places down here that make manifolds for slant sixes.

Try www.lynxcorp.com.au and buy Australian.

You will be pleasantly surprised by the exchange rate between the US and Aussie dollar.

DWC43 I was at the show. Who can forget that Hemi Bee! Seen that in many magazines! I remember the red 383 71 Bee near that car. Don't remember your Runner. I had the only slant 72 Duster there. Gold with all the original heater, and radiator hoses. It is in rough shape but drives sweet!

Rug I dont know how you missed it I was parked on the Bees driver side man. Did you see the Charger race car #9 down front near the club Mopar trailer? I bought that thing too. Need to run into each other some time. Maybe a car race or something. Seems like I slightly remember your car.

Too Many cars! I was hanging out with a guy from Murfreesboro, Long Ram 60 (Al Wilson) and a guy from Bowling Green that had a 70 Chally Hemi clone. Goes by Hemi Doug on Moparts. I know Bubba from Columbia that sells parts and had that baby blue 72-74 Charger. Does this place have private messaging? I 'll try and shoot you my phone number. Later,

Walter

I am not sure what you are asking for, but the 4 barrel intakes have holley/ afb mountings on them. The 2 one barrel intakes take stock 1 barrel carbs.

Thanks, Eric

?????????............... the plates/adapters would be to put a spreadbore carb onto a 5186 Offy intake.

do you have a Offy partz connection? Offy HAS the plates but NO part # is assigned to them..... LOL.....

Buy the Offy # 5750 intake, it is set up for Q-jet or thermoQuad. If not offy # 5816R adapter fit a Q-jet bace to a Holley base.

Thanks, Eric

I already have the 5186 intake which is a dual quad spreadbore intake that NEEDS a pair of these plates to put two TQ's on it.

5816R adapter the same?...........this intake does NOT have a Berri base.

I am looking in the Offy catalog, there saying that the 5186 intake is drilled for holley/ afb carbs, not Q-jet. Here the # to offy you can call them 213-225-1307

OK - this intake has four holes drilled and taped PER side but they do not fit any bolt pattern for any carb that I am aware of.

I have already called that phone number and Vince who answered the phone said that they HAVE those plates BUT there is no part # for them.

I have an offy dual quad intake for a big block and the plates you are describing do exist, but it wouldn't be too hard to make them out of 1/2" or 5/8" aluminum. That smaller bolt pattern is for the old WCFB carbs like the ones that came on early hemis. 18 pounds a piece they were.

Two thermoquads eh? How big of a godzilla motor is this going on anyway? I'm running two 500 carters on a 400.

THAT is the "sweetness" of running TQ's....you can throttle those carbs down to almost NOTHING if need be.

What I plan down-the-road is a pair of 1" primary carbs..........with the air valve stop adjusted accordingly.

A bud of mine is working on a TD right now....that is a Thermo-Deuce - for a slant six motor project.

aj - YES I could make them. And based on what Offy wants for them........93 beans for the pair - I think that I will....unless I can find them elsewhere.

Reread my post Doc! I don't own a 318! I have a M-1 slanty intake that I bought with a stock 318 Berry thrown in. $75 new in the box intake. I guess the 6 2bbl is a Carter BBD?
