Default Question for Six Pack or anyone else in Southern Alberta

Just curious, do you work at a dealership? I am looking to replace my gears in my 96 Ram to better pull my boat (fishing season is coming up). I have the worst gears possible..3.20's. I want to put in 3.90's/3.92's. It is a 2wh drive, 5.2, 5 speed, with some mods..ie headers, k&n, exhaust. This gear would be the best gear for my situation, problem is everyone wants a arm and leg for the gears and install.
Dodge will charge me about $1300 for the gear kit including install. I am in Calgary, can you recommend any place to buy gears and a reputable install place. Drivetrain places believe it or not are wanting close to the same $'s for the job.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried here? From the Northern Mopars web site www.mopars.org/buysell.html Haven't tried him myself but he sure seems to be a Mopar kinda guy!

Smile Hi Camshaft

To answer your question, yes I do work at a dealer(service manager)

I also have the answer to your gear question as well. I have a set of 3.92 for a 9ΒΌ rear. Excellent shape for $200.00.

Hope this helps:

salarguy,

If you are still interested let me know, it appears camshaft is looking at a complete differential.

Still contemplating. I am in the works on getting a 3.55 lsd complete rear end hopefully this week. I just have to find out how much it would cost to take out the 3.55's and install the whole rear end, with say the 3.90's. Problem is not many people like doing this on used rear ends. Funny thing is both of my race cars 71 chevelle and 72 challenger never had this problem. I would like to do this in Calgary just cuz I don't want to drive back from your town on the highway during a break-in period for new gears. But I sure would love the 3.90's in a lsd rear end.
Question: is there any additional labour to install a set of gears into a lsd rear end as opposed to an open diff.
thx.
Cam
If I do decide on the gears, we will have to arrange for fed ex or something.

No extra labour with an anti-spin verses an open diff.

Six pack, would it be possible to have the gears shipped from your dealership to a dealership in calgary, if so, that would save me some bucks on shipping (assuming you could put it on a mopar parts semi that is coming to calgary).

Freight does not travel that way.
Small bussiness courier is the best way to go.
I will check on prices and get back to you.
If you are not in a hurry, I am sure I can find someone(or myself) that will be travelling to calgary in the near future.

If you're coming to calgary in the near future that would be even better. I am still trying to arrange to get the entire rear end, only problem is scheduling time to go and take it out, but it is mine for the taking. Then I can put the rear end and your 3.90's in at the same time, rather than the rear end and gears later.
Keep me posted if and when you're taking a road trip my way
