Unhappy

I had an Omni GLHS stolen from my home in Maryland quite a while ago (1991!) and I am really starting just now to see if I can locate the car or any info. The theft was reported to the Maryland State Police at the time.

The VIN# is 1B3BZ18E4GD264301.

I purchased the car from a person that was in the Military and recently had moved to Maryland. The car had a current OREGON title from the person recently moving to Maryland. I had the car for only one month when it was stolen. I never even had a chance to title the car in my own name! I still have the original OREGON title that was in the seller's (also original owner) name, along with my bill of sale, etc.......

I bought the car from....

David J. Elfering
H/H Trailer Court Crnr Court/Harriso
PO BOX 321
Vale, Oregon 97914

I have the complete paperwork to this car and would like very much to find the whereabouts or any helpful information in locating it. We did have some individuals that we believed may have been involved in the disappearance of the vehicle at the time, but no evidence was ever found.

The car was GLHS #429. If anyone can cross the VIN over and give me the engine/trans serial #'s...that would be great!

Please e-mail me at abalto@hypmedia.com

TY!

Was this car a turbo car? What was the color? I've seen what I think was an Omni (did they make any turbo Horizons?) at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL. This car was black. Some guy was racing it one night when we took our '63 Savoy out there for some test & tune runs. I hear he goes there often. I think the car said Shelby on it somewhere too. It ran 13.? something in the 1/4.

HI 69_GTX:

Thanks for your reply. Yes, they did make quite a few turbo Omnis (no, Horizons though) and my car was one of 500 GLHS Omnis produced. I think it may be a long shot that the car that you spotted was mine. I do have my VIN listed, if you could track down this car and check the VIN...that would be cool! I would make it worth your while if it is my car!!

Thanks,

Andrew Balto

I'll keep an eye out for that car this summer. They run street tires on Tuesday nights and on Fri/Sat if there's nothing scheduled that weekend. Now that I FINALLY found my GTX I'll be going out there more often. I live 12 minutes from the track, close enough to hear the top fuelers from my back yard.

Angry SDML!!

I second the suggestion of joining the SDML.
Shelby-Dodge Mailing List. Some of those guys have
a registar of all the Shelbys. You never know, whoever
stole it, might be dumb enough to registar it. That really
sucks though. I have a Daytona IROC R/T. I use to have
a 85 Omni GLH-T. A list member bought it from the guy
I sold it too. He's building it up nice, and WON'T sell it
back to me. Good luck

abalto - have you tried checking to see if the car might have been returned to Oregon? If you'd like, I could take a ride to Vale, and see if I could come up with anything.

Default To 69 GTX

I think I know the car that you are talking about a friend of mine owned it about 7 years ago and sold it about a year after he owned it and he lives in Chicago I almost bet this is the one.He sold it because he kept on getting into races with all the time on the loop.Very fast car.But this one had a clear title and everything.
