Default 76 volare crushes 00 chevy pick up

Me and my brother have a little rivalry. He thought my 1976 volare had no power. He was so cocky that he thought he could beet me in 2000 chevy 2500 (not HD version) with a 6.0L vortec motor. By the way my volare has a rebuilt 360, although i am not aware of how much power it has. Anyway We met on a rural road and as soon as he turned on to it he floared it. I immediatly did the same thing. He started before me, but i quickly started to gain on him, and in a matter of seconds i was ahead of him. I remaind ahead of him, and kept pulling away until my speed gauge reached 100 Miles an hour, then i let off of it. Now he won't think twice about weather or not my car has power.

yeah those chevy pick ups are over rated my step dad bought a 2000 2500 hd all the extras he did get a nice interior but as far as power that wasnt the case he got the hd so he could pull his tractor as well.it only took one hill to make him come back and get the ragedy old 68 ford to pull it.he droped three gears in the chevy to get up that hill the old ford did it in high gear. He felt like he got suckered big time.

My buddy has a 2005 Chevy HD 2500 with the 6.0 in it and that thing cant even pull his 26ft 5th wheel up a mild hill on the expressway at more than 50-55 mph. Its got a nice Allison tranny, but its a slow pig of a truck that gets horrible gas mileage. What a waste of money....

I am completely unaware of what has been done to the motor other than an addition of a carter carbourator. I can tell you however, that it does have a lot more than the stock 170 HP. The owner (who i knew) had rebuilt the motor, but when i bought it about a month and a half ago from the family, they did not know much about it because the person who worked on the motor had passed away a while back unfortunatly. His son claimed it to be pushing 400 HP, but i can tell that it's not that powerful.

That 2500 is a slug! Weighs over 5500 lbs and only cranks out about 370 HP.
