Your use of Chryslers in demo derbies is sacreligious and your bragging of it on this board is just not right. I have been in my fair share of derbies and I only use Fords and Chevies, but I dont go on their boards and leave a message like that. I for one wish the full fury of Mopar lovers on you!

I am sorry, but I thought by taking about derbies I would be able to find some one else here in that knows some tips about getting the 318's to run REALLY HOT. This is the "Home of Mopar Enthusiasts" so I thought there would be at least 1.

You will find plenty of tips on how to make a 'teen scream, but I doubt ANYONE would want to see it push a Chrysler to destruction.
This is hallowed ground here. |

That's as offensive as car crushing.

Think of it this way, in a demo derby you want to smash the other cars until they can no longer run. Chrysler's motors are rock solid and take the abuse, perhaps that is why they use only Chryslers.
Not that I'm a fan of ruining such great cars, but if the purpose behind it is winning... |

Hmm The only chrysler products i run in derbies is The 80 up models due to the fact we have a 80 up class here and the 318's will get 3 derbies pull em and run them in my truck a year before i need to rebuild them hehe I hate to see any kind of old Mopar in a derby it makes me cringe Yes the fury's and the Newports and the other big cars work well but Sell them to me il fix em !

Mopars dominate demolition derby's as well. The New Yorkers and Fury's are banned from a lot of derby's because they are indestructible.

......still its the point. he needs to get a ford POS body and put a 318 in it. that will equal out the evil in his ways.

Interesting thoughts here. I have always been a Mopar guy and always will. I take pride in seeing those old Chryslers and Fury reak havoc on those other tin cans. Helping friends in derbys it seems the weekest link was making sure the battery was safe so it would restart. My Opinion anyway. Good luck at killing off those chevys and ferds.

It's the typical mind set. Destroy a Mopar at the derby, then drive yourself and your family home in a tinfoil GM or Import.
Derbie, there's already plenty of tips in the performance section for modifying 318s. Use the search engine if you want to find that information, but I suspect you're just here to troll. I used to go to the derby, I guess I grew out of it, it got boring. |

And a slant will run longer with no coolant.

Who cares. I dont see people fixing these 1972 Dodge Coronets and the like anyways. At least they are getting used for something. Besides most derby cars are already missing anything good/valuable and are usually 4-door cars.
My buddy loves the Mopar leaf spring land yatchs. He'll pick one up and I'll get the drivetrain out of it (as he runs GM, poor guy). Works out great. |

Then the parts that can be used will be destroyed instead.
The problem is, some of those clown just grab whatever is available. I've seen all kinds of different cars derbyed, even a Camaro. Now that one folded in like a house of cards! ![]() I got tired of it though, same old schtick, go muddy up a field and let them bang into one another. The 58 Plymouth garage find that some clown derbyed at the fair a few years back did it for me, I've got better things to do with my time. Glad you've saved some parts at least. |

Um... Don't most old cars(chebbie, frd, mopar) have rear leaf springs? Mopars are a lil expensive for deby cars. You can get a pos monte carlo or cadillac whatever or ford ltd a lot cheaper than some mopar land yachts.!?!?!?! Why not use a cheap car you just beating the sh!t out of it?

Most Mopar guys wouldn't even pay that for those cars with a 318, 360 or even a 400. Some wouldn't even pay that if it was 440 powered. ![]() |

Sorry but even if i needed a trans or motor, i would take it out of a car that needs to be opens like a can of sardines to get it out, and i would want it because of the consant forward reverse beatin the trans takes, and the smashing the motor takes, or lack of fluids that it has. My opinion is one a derby car always a derby car. All the "good" parts are only good for another derby car.

You could easily get $200 for a good fender, hood or grill. You don't get reproduction body parts and sheet metal for C-bodies.

You have a hard time getting that for a complete car around here.

Yea, seems that nobody is restoring any C-bodies in the US.

Im talking more about the drivetrain, not the body, no one really wants c-bodies as hot rods, but the c bodies have lots of good drivetrain parts useable on a and b bodies

I understood that, that's why there are lots of parts available + the aftermarket. Try to get a C-body fender, or any body parts...
Those Chargers and Challengers are soon more common than a C-body. There is a market for those body parts already and it will for sure grow in the future. Could maybe be a good business idea, full size is more popular outside the us. |

True but the parts are extremelly expensive, also try finding a set of 69 charger fenders, just as example. Yea c-bodies are not that popular, its sad cuz a lot of those cars are really nice.
