Default got to beat two in one day:)

well its not every day I get to smoke(literally) two supposedly fast cars in one day. First a wr6 firechicken from my local dragstrip(sears point) saw me coming and slowed down to catch me at the next stopsign, lol. I saw it coming so I pulled it into 4wd and gave him the waite signal so I could spoolup. He left after about 1 second so I leter rip, caught him in about 20ft and drove by to the applaud of his passengers. Next was a peskey little porshe driver, though he should pass this bigol truck that got the jump on him at a stop light, ya right. LOL he had to follow me for 10 more miles. I guess they think cause its a rattlin ol diesel with flames on the fron they can just drive right around me. They better read the licence plate- DSLHTRD

VERY IMPRESSIVE HP AND TORQUE FIGS ON YOUR CUMMINS. WHAT MODIFICATIONS HAVE YOU PERFORMED? BIGGER TURBO? LARGER INTERCOOLER? INCREASED DISPLACMENT? I WAS JUST WONDERING HOW YOU DOUBLED THE HP AND TORQUE FIGS ON A 96 5.9L. WERE THESE FIGURES OBTAINED ON A CHASSIS DYNO?

EVEN THE NEWER 24V CUMMINS ARE ONLY RATED A 225HP AND 490 FT/LBS. YOUR NUMBERS ARE CERTAINLY IMPRESSIVE.

OH YEAH, ARE THESE FIGURES YOU POSTED SAE NET OR BHP? WHAT DID YOU ACTUALLY MAKE AT THE DRIVE WHEELS?

OOOPS! I GUESS I WASN'T REALLY PAYING ATTENTION WHEN I READ IT. I JUST WAS ASHTONISHED AT THOSE NUMBERS. IT MUST BE COMPLETELY ALTERED TO MAKE THAT KIND OF POWER, I AM WONDERING WHAT HE DID IN DETAIL.

ok at that time I had a BD competition/pulling injection pump, 370 hp marine injectors, hx40 turbo(800cfm compressure at 40psi), a 5sp and all dyno pulls were on a dynojet in 4th (1:1), I also had a 42 jet in the nos, I had a vapor propane system, I ported my head and used a .50 thicker head gasket, 3.54 gears, and had 35's at that time.
All these have since gone up considerably, I've got more fuel from the pump, bigger delivery valves, bigger injectors,an h2e(1000cfm at 42psi) bell turbo hybrid, more lpg from a liquid performance diesel system, 82 jet in the nos, a BD auto, and 37's. I'll be getting back to the dyno on the 15'th so I'll have some more #'s then I'm sure. I'm hope to get well above the 650hp mark and around 1350+ on the torque at the rear tires.
Those were corrected #'s, the acctual observed #'s were 607hp and 1240ftlbs.
Oh ya by the way the short block has over 153k on the odometer that hasn't been corrected sence in bought the truck new and alway have been running oversized tires.
remember we're talking about a 358.9cuin inline 6 cylinder, cummins power baby. I'd love to see a gasser that could do this, can you imagine a 632cuin donovin with 150k and averages 17+mpg,, on pump fuel.

Default and its a 4x4!

how much does it weigh? jesus.
it must be unstoppable in the mud...but let me ask you one question:
are you made of money? or do you haul money with your truck?
because it sounds like there must be a shitload of money invested in that thing

LOL 69 there are acctually a few people making conversions for early trucks to put diesels in them.
its funny you talk about mud, I ran a series last year for mud bogging/clowm show put on by Mike Welch motorsports. Turns out they didn't appriciate a diesel smoking blown or nitroused big blocks. They resorted to continually lowering how much I won to finally not using timing lites and saying I lost. I won the first 5 events I went to, then I showed up with another 150hp and boggers and they wouldn't even let me run. I almost got arrested for that. Needless to say I can't run that series anymore.
I used to have a nv4500 in my truck when I ran then, I used to launch in 3rd gear high range. The first bog I went to I was the fastest street truck by over 4 seconds, I ran a 3.4 or something and that time was good enough to be the third fastest time of the night beating 2 promods.
if you would like to see a couple of videos of a bog go to
PerfmanceDeiesl.com
he has two of the same bog. The second video I was the forth to go and the only to make it through. Thant night I was going against 2 broncos with bb's and boggers( I still had bfg m/t's) a mustang 4x4 with a 351 on nos, and some other guy. I won that one to.
On the money remark, you'd be totally suprised how little it really takes to get power out of the cummins. I can get 300/700 to the ground for nothing/free out of 96-98 215hp 5sp truck. 400/8-900 cost around 1k for motor enhancements(injectors, camplate, delivery valves, and a drug) but you'd also have to consider tranny upgrades for sure. The 24valves are almost easier to get to 300 is just a box, 400 is a box and injectors. And the funniest part about all this power making is mileage almost always goes up.
Diesel-Central
is another chat/forum site, do a search on my MY6 name and there are some videos of pulls in telare, also a 9.53 1/8 miles run on sand and with no drugs on my part.

Not really altered much in my case. Adam is a 12v and I am a 24v ....only thing internally I have changed is injectors.

You might be surprised just how easy it is. My truck is not as strong as Adam's......I don't run propane or nitrous just yet, but its stong enough to surprise people

Cost roughly $4000 to get the numbers I have on my truck.....

HEY KAT, I'M FROM OMAHA TOO! I SHOULD BE IN TOWN FOR CHRISTMAS.

ANYWAY, THAT'S IMPRESSIVE, WE USED TO HAVE A CUMMINS. IT WAS STRONG, ALL WE DID WAS ADVANCE THE PUMP TIMING. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE ONE'S POSTED HERE, BUT IT WAS RESPECTABLE. I JUST LOVE ALL THINGS TURBOCHARGED, I JUST HAVEN'T DONE A WHOLE BUNCH WITH DIESELS. JUST GASOLINE TURBO'S AND OLD SMALLBLOCKS.

HEY MY6, THANKS FOR THE INFO. A CUMMINS ON STEROIDS THAT'S QUICKER THAN MY DAYTONA WEIGHING ALMOST 2X AS MUCH. SHIT, I BETTER GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

turbo,
one of the coolest ,, well acctually two of the coolest things for me was that sears point closed early this year because they are totally redoing the 1/4 and road course. The 1/4 has always been natoriously slow because of the up hill not level track. Its said that sacramento other than being more slick was between .2 and .4 seconds faster so hopefully next year Sears will be even faster. Also I've resently done even more mods to make it even faster by adding more power. I'll know exactly how much more power on the 15th of dec. We will be having a dyno day at Rohnart park machine(rpm) so I will know then how much exactly. I'm shooting for 700hp and 1400ftlbs and have no reason to make it by may guesses. If so I believe between the two of these I should be making it into the 11's next year.

I still average around 17 mpg emty and 10/12 pulling. Remember I have 3.54's and 37" tires so its working pretty good pulling. Empty I just drive to fast(average 80) to get better.
OH YA I GOT TWIN TURBOS TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Default Hey My6eatsV8's

Did you get it dyno'ed on the 15th, I was just wondering what kind of numbers you are running now? Also without propane or nos, what kind of 1/4 times do you have? Thanks Nathan.

I made 497 on the motor and the dyno would only hold 545 with either or both of the drugs. I expect it would be closer to 700 with both and if it held without spinning.
on the 1/4 mile I don't know exactly what it would do without. Prolly mid to low 13's.
PS I've been working on istalling my twins for the last couple of days so hopefully next week they will be done
I'll get back to the dyno soon after.

I got to see this! I tried the website you listed but the URL is bad. Please send me a link to the video, pictures, anything. The fastest Diesel I ever saw was a dually Ram and it went mid 15's. I was impressed at that, this is insane!

You can find an eigth mile sand run at 9.53 at
Diesel-central
you'll have to do a search for "videos are in from telare"

also you can see a couple of my old mud bog video's on
Performance Diesel
under web media and my6eatsv8's mud bog video's

I have a bunch on my computor but don't know how to put them on the web. Sooner or later I will be able to put them on but I'm to ignorant to now.
If you think you can walk me through it email me at turbodieselguy@aol.com

I would love to walk you though it but I am lucky to be able to post to this board. I found both sites but I could not find a place to do a search. This is really something though, are there others like you out there? I just never heard a a diesel going anywhere near that fast. It's just too cool!
