Thanks. So you can fit those tires w/o inboarding leafs. What about the size of street tire. I'm really hoping I can fit a 275/60/15.
Here is mine: '77 440 - .03 over w/ KB 236 pistons - c.r. of ~10.1:1 w/ 452 Hughes "Stage-1" prepared heads. Hughes HE3844 w/ 238/244 @ .050 - .572/.576 w/ crane 1.6:1 rollers. Rest of valvetrain is Hughes Engines. Stock cast crank/ 440 rods - crank/rods shot peened. ARP rods bolt, Main/Head Studs Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake w/ Holley 850 DP. Homemade (similar to Tom Hoover's Coronet) ram air system. 4.10 gears w/ Detroit Locker. MP SS leafs for 3800 lbs. car clamped. Stock front/rear shocks. 318 torsion bars. Homemade pinion snubber. Homemade frame connectors. No cage and never will be one! TTI 1-7/8" Heades w/ Homemade 3" exhaust into Flowmaster Ultraflows. 727 w/ 3000 stall, shift kit, deep pan. 28" rad out of ex-cop car w/ cop 8 blade viscous fan. 4 wheel drums (your right VERY scary!) Weight of 3575 with half tank of fuel w/o me. Right now, like I said, I'm very curious as to what tire I can fit in these stock wheel wells w/ a common backspaced (stock steel) rim - 4.25 or 4.5" I REALLY like those Prostars, just SO expensive. Hard to beat this car....but I loose traction TOO MUCH. This is really a street car that never really goes to the track. Input on tires/rims would be helpful. Mills |

oh yeah
direct connection headers and a 3 inch exhaust
a 10 inch slick will fit in my car, 4.5" backspacing on prostars get the 90/10 shocks, this car has never seen anything except slicks on the street but it never busts loose and i know its because of those shocks, plus it just leaves so hard how does that homemade pinion snubber work? i know the mopar one works really good, not to insult your workmanship or anything, but maybe try a mopar one just in case i don't know what else to tell ya, you can't run slicks on the street where you live? because if you can, do it, mine lasted an entire year despite what other people told me...and i have never lost a race on the street with it |

Even though my description puts me in Calgary, AB, I'm actually from a small town in Saskatchewan. In the town of about 200 people we have the following cars: '69 Cuda w/ 440, 70 Challenger RT w/ 440, '70 Charger RT w/ 440, '64 Polara w/ 383, '71 Duster w/ 340, countless '67 up C-bodies w/ bigblock power. Our town lies right along the main highway w/ two exists to this highway - stop sign to stop sign is actually 1325 ft. Works very good. We also have countless Chebby and Phords there that TRY their best to put the MOPAR boys in their spots - NOT HAPPENING! When I still lived there and when I moved to Saskatoon for school, I always came home for the Friday night races. They would last for hours until we were reported and the cops broke it up.
Back to my car. No doubt in my mind that the 90/10 shocks would help - I think that since I removed my sway bar (and you thought the 4 wheel drum brakes were scary) my front raises so much as it is. Slicks would be no problem to run in this town. My problem IS coming from the lack of tire. My homemade pinion snubber works like this - I took the stock snubber, removed the rubber snuber, and drilled a hole where it was. Welded on a 2.5-3 inch long piece of 1x1 tubing after welding nuts in both the bottom and top. Took some grade 8 threaded rod and welded a pedestal on it, and weather strip adhesived the stock snubber back on. Adjust length by simply turning until you get the required clearance. For street you just slimply turn it all the way down (why I drill a hole in the stock plate). I like it better then the MP unit because I have no limit to adjustablity. Plus it was basically free.
