I think the 4cylinder mustangs are probably in the top 50 slowest cars ever made. I raced one on Guam and blew it's doors off with a base model auto sentra rental car. I asked the guy why he didn't race me and he just died laughing and said "I WAS" He told me it was a slug but man. I honestly couldn't tell he floored it.
Speaking of ricer passes. They freak out when they do that to a fullsize truck and then 20 seconds later they look in the rearview mirror and all they can see is a big red grill with silver stripes and a rams head logo They really freak out when they floor it and at 110 they have the exact same view |

I have raced 2 of the newer Camaro's at the track. One ran a 13.21 @ 108 to my 12.49 and the other ran 12.96 @ 109 and I smakcked him also at 12.31 @ 110 in my sons mild 383 Dart. Believe me I am all Mopar but they did run good for basically stock. They may have had different chips and pipes but they looked stock. I just thought they actually did not run bad for what they are but I would much rather run 12.30's for about 7k that I have tied up in my sons Dart then low 13's for 25K. Ron

Right on!
383-man hit it right by me. I have about 3 grand, purchase and all in my Frankendodge, which I have enjoyed thouroughly for 7 years, Never lost a race in it, never left me stranded, never had a load it wouldn't pull. Granted, no A/C, or power windows, but it does what I ask efficiently, and relatively economically. Lots of new trucks with EFI can't match my near-20MPG economy on the freeway with a modded 360. Instead of throwing parts at it, I approached it from a standpoint of learning from my Dad who built race engines, taught carburation for GM, trannies for Ford, and airflow theory to numbers of engine builders, some of whom are no longer running today due to age, but their theory still applies. I learned very valuable lessons, and understand a lot more about the things that make an engine work the way it does. That is worth more to me than the 25K to buy a new truck. Thanks to it, I have now started a performance engine business, geared to the Mopar sleepers, with smooth streetability, and raw power as well. It is doing well, and the enjoyment for me is that my Dad taught me this and I am using it. Spread the wealth, teach the tricks of the trade to your son. That's what my dad told me, and I will.
