Default 93 Dakota vs. New Chevy SS pickup

The other day I was hopping on the interstate and one of those new Shivy SS pickups came screaming up on my rr bumper. I don't know what they are running in them but it sure ain't much. As soon as the merge ramp straightened out I accellerated moderately not necessarily looking for a race but he nailed it and whipped ot over to the left lane. That's all it took. I nailed it and I ran off and left him bad. I let off at about 85-90 and was a long way in front of him. At least 8-10 car lengths is my guess. Of course he did the ricer pass. I was really surprised to see it didn't run any better than that. My Dak only runs high 14's and by the way I ran off and left him I'd guess he'd be doing real good to get into the 15's. Saw him a couple of days later and he didn't even try again. he-he

dodge always gets under rated and shivvy always gets over rated. Didn't you know that. Just look at popular Hotroddings comments from a few years ago about a Dakota R/T running Sleepy 14's and then saying a supercharged shevy turned a blistering fast 15.85.

Wonder if it the same one I ran. It was only up to 40 or so mph, but my stock Cherokee walked one badly one night after work this past winter. If Chevy wants to hang with the F-150 Lightening and Ram SRT-10, the better get their asses in gear, and make something close to what Ford and Dodge offer. These things aren't raced on a track like way back when, so NASCAR can't ban these monsters like they did with the aero warriors and end up stopping street car production like in the 70's.

Those Chevy SS's are slow because of the AWD which adds more weight. Also at $40,000 plus, you won't see a lot of em on the road. I think it is a good looking truck but definitly ain't worth the money when running high 15's.

The SS was posted as running a 16.0 by Motor trends truck mag. Sad, really sad. Well, for $40,000 atleast.

If they'd put a hotter engine in it, ditch the club cab, and monster rims they might almost have something.

Default Hemi ram vs. SS

I know Motor Trend did a comparo between a Hemi Ram SC Laramie and an SS 4 door (chevy ain't got a quad cab).

The Ram was 0.1 seconds slower in the 1/4 and had a slightly slower slalom than the SS.

Keep in mind....normal Ram...Beefed up SS.......
$27,000 vs. $40,000

Motor Trends verdict: Save the $13,000 and buy the Ram..

the ss's are deffinently something chevy did wrong. For the most part there a stock silverado with awd, and lowering, and a couple of things, there just not what anybody expected. Now when they did the concept they had a 400 horse 350 in them that woulda been a whole different story, but for now there just a waste of money

Even with 400 horsepower, they still wouldnt be impressive. Whats 50 more horsepower when they can barely run a high 15? Low 15s still aren't going to cut it for 40k. For 7k less you can get a lightning that is more worthy of a "SS" badge or for 5k more you can get a SRT-10. If chevy wanted to release a nice, good handling, slow show truck then they shouldn't have called it a "SS". Why not just call it "RS" like they did with the good looking slow camaros produced?
