Hey me and my dad "im only 12" Was coming back from a race at bristol motor speedway in 1994 dodge 250 van with 5.2 liter boen stcok if u call straight pipe stock and two turbo hondas came farting by shifting beside us so there blow off valves release then a turbo 2003 rustang with tags "Roushed" did the same thing well we geard down to 2nd then 1st to stop at a light we reved a few times they reved back and the light went green and we hammerd it tookoff and the ricers stayed about are rear bumper untill we hit 2nd and got wound up then they dropped back plus we let off about 95MPH. Just think we smoked 2 ricers and a rustang all turbos at the same time in a clompletely stock dodge 250van with 0-60 in 8 seconds. welp thats all folks for now.

LMAO!!! Good job!!

I saw this program on NZ TV last night.

A young punk in a Nissan Skyline had a winning show car bright Green with chrome wheels, speakers, bodykit, detailed engine bay etc, the presenter asked so what have you done under the bonnet?
The skyline guy replied, "Ummm not a heck of a lot just a lot of detailing to make it look good"

He just summed up ricers in 5 seconds - All show, NO go.

Little gimp he was. I can't wait to my Challenger rolls out in the streets down under!

Default NZ putting down a Skyline?!?!?!?!?

In case you don't know, the Nissan Skyline is the Hemi Dart of the Rice scene. The thing is a factory race car! It doesn't need anyone to tinker under the bonnet, it comes with 500 HP's and it's not rare to see them tuned up to 800 HP's!

Although, I'm sure that was a little rich kid on that show who will never really appreciate what his daddy bought for him. On avearage, 90% of ricers out there don't know what they're talking about and they have the car to prove it.

Default Skyline

The Nissan Skyline Comes With An Rb26dett, 2.6 Liter Twin Turbo Dual Overhead Cam Inline Six Cylinder. These Cars Are Raced All Over Japan, Many Of The Speed Shops In Japan Only Work On These Cars. They Only Make 280 Hp Stock, But That's Not Too Shabby Since You Get A 6 Speed Trans, And All Wheel Drive From The Get Go. 500-1000 Hp Is Not Only Common, But The Norm When Tuners Really Get Into The Engines. I Guess The 225 Slant Sixes Aren't The Only Underestimated Engine In The Automotive Kingdom.

You forgot to mention the weight of the car. I know it's a bit lighter than my e-body.

Yeah, but not all skylines are like that. The ones that are the 500hp+ are Godzillas! This was just a "pretty" GT-S, if you know what that is? I know my Skylines, and have always stated that those cars are nice, decent looking, and quick. Unlike most Jappas.

500 ponies for an inline 6?

I need to study some rice 101 so I can make my 225 slant run like stink!
I'm sure not all skylines move like that, but the special top dollar ones from the factory probably move like a scalded cat. Just like the buick grand national, they move but not like the top dollar GNX.

Is this really possible? Completely stock? Even the 0-60 in 8 with a 318 van doesn't sound right.

Maybe we could cut up a couple aluminum W2's and weld them back together and hang a couple Super 60's on it with some efi, and get 500 out of her. LOL!!

THere's a pick of a V6 with a W2 cast head that was cut down to fit. You should take a look and see if you can find it.

BS!

Excuse me? I don't understand the power of Mopar? 12 years old and you know it all? OK, whatever. Enjoy your dad's 8 second 3/4 ton van powered by a stock 318. Hope you don't get whiplash blowing off turbo ricers.

Come now, lets all get along

Lighten up Dick he is a 12 year old kid. I'm proud that he loves his dads dodge van instead of mostly plastic, east/west engined, front driving, triple decker spoilered, fart mobiles. Maybe his dad was a little sneaky with some performance parts that he tucked in. Hell, the dude that bought my junk merc towed it away with a chevy astro van that he built for his ol'lady. It had a 383sbc with spray and hit 12s, I wouldn't have believed it but I saw it run at Milan. It looks to me his dad is raising him right!

I can understand his excitement with his dad's ride. All I did was ask the opinion of others on this forum if the feats described and the 0-60 are possible with a van running 220 horses. I personally think they aren't, but was interested if anyone else could provide similar info. Nobody responded besides the young man, and his response was a bit lippy and certainly didn't reinforce his position. And I did say "OK,whatever". I really don't care.

I go along with you Dick-I read that and figured if he believes those numbers thats his privilage.A stout 440 in a full size van MIGHT turn 12s on a good day but a stoker teen-sorry.I just drug in a dodge 1 ton van chassis motor home that i installed the motor in years ago. This old retired machinist/boat racer had it in a 69 dart to run while he went through the 340.When I asked him what he had done to it he just shrugged and grinned. It has ate 3 trannies and lots of right rears.Trannie is toast again and its going in the dakota.Eddy dual plane with AVS,slight rumpity rump cam,I want to pull it down to see what he did but I cant bring myself to do it just yet.Anyway teens will haul booty if you stroke them and I bet thats what I got here.

How much does a Skyline cost?
Marc, I have known some folks in NWDRA. I am friends with Letty H. I'm sure you know her. She still works PIR and Woodburn. I was going to PIR regularly in the early 80s.

Well the kid said 0-60 in 8 seconds. And beat a Roush Mustang with that!! NFW, not today or ever. Maybe, just maybe if the mustang was parked....

Default Van Performance!

This thread is funny!
Well, I'll throw in my limited van experience and a good kill story as well.
A while back my friend sold me a beater 77 B100 with a hurt 360 in it and 3.23 gears for $100.
I took the engine out to see how bad it was and the oil pick-up tube was clogged so it had been run for a short distance with no oil pressure.
I had some bearings lying around and threw in a new pump, used Erson cam,
and a holley 600, and headers.
I fired it up and it ran ok but the cylinder walls must have been pretty glazed,
it didn't smoke but it definitly had some blowby.
Anyway I drove it, adjusted the tranny kickdown and Damn! did that thing run!
I had my friend with me one day when we were getting on the highway and it was a two lane on-ramp. I was in the left and there was a 911 Porsche behind me and the right lane was open, I figured the guy would go for it so I downshifted and sure enough he did, It was so funny that this 911 couldn't pass our beat up Van! I was barely able to drive due to laughing so hard while he was next to us.
Anyway, I was curious so I weighed the van and it was only 3900# with me in it.
I figure that Porsche was good for a 15 or 16 second quarter, so I thought I had done pretty good. Then my buddy tells me that in his 1ton van with a 318 and 4.10 gear he beat a 89 Mustang 5.0 across the intersection and about 200ft down the road until the mustang finally passed him!
So maybe 8 seconds 0-60mph isn't out of the question from a stocker 318 van if it had 4.10 gears.
Lets all git-er dun!
