Default Magnum R/T first drive!

A guy brought his Magnum in the shop to put tires on it, 16,000 miles and needed four new tires...lol. We were joking when we told him that we could go ahead and finish them off down the road. funny thing you shouldn't tell a bunch of power hungry guys to "yea I don't care, I'm gonna do the same thing when I leave". WE DID! It's a very smooth ride, very fast ride. It really eats up the tires with trac control off. I just wish the transmission would shift harder. I definitely would own one, but I'd like to open the exhaust up on it...way too quiet.

I wonder what a set of tires for that costs? I figure it's a 16 or 17 inch rim.
The new shorter sidewalls help handling, but the replacement costs can hurt!!

Biggrin

Actually the shorter sidewall does not inprove handling. It does allow for a lower cg, but the change in slip angle hurts it quite a bit. THey will break loose in a corner with very little warnning when they do, and it really limits staright line traction since you have no sidewall flex to take up the shock from junping on the throttle real hard. I'll be glad when the big wheel fad goes away. The best tire for handling will be in a 60 series on a 15" rim. That's what you'll find on 90% of all race cars too.

although the Magnum SE has 16's and the SXT has 17's. The RT Comes with 18's and the new SRT-8 comes with 20's the same goes for the Charger. but yeah I would geuss a set of tires would cost alot, even more on the SRT-8

It does have 18's, but there are only two choices of tires that we could order at the time. I'm guessing b/c 18" is a little odd right now. The stock touring tires, or a set of Pirelli's. The Pirelli's are pretty much the same design, just touring, nothing really aggressive for speed.
