Default BMW embarassment

well we (me and 3 other ppl) we're cruising in a town bout 50 miles away from my home, and 4 guys in a brand new BMW with a manual tranny pulls up besides me and redline his engine and pops the clutch and does a burnout for 3-4 feet (we we're going 35 MPH at the time) so I say to my car load "ya know I never tried that) I put it in netural and redline it and slam it into 1st (bad idea I know) and I spin the tires for 30 feet and almost instantly go to 70 MPH and let off, and the guy in the BMW cuts across 3 lanes of traffic and turn off and goes home and didn't show his car the rest of the night. At that time my LeBaron was about as fast as it has ever been, same timeframe as I was eating mustangs, firebirds, and so on.

Hehe, you gotta watch those things, mine liked to let all hell break loose from time to time. There was one time I was driving along just below the posted limit in traffic (about 40mph in a 45) and had the road clear out infront of me, so I figured what the hell and jumped on it and ran it up to about 60 before I started to gain on traffic and back out of it. Well when I got back to speed limit I glanced off to my left where I saw a blue Camaro RS (late 80's/early 90's body style, don't know if it was a 2.8, 3.1, or tbi/tpi 305) come flying up along side me and jams on his brakes. I figured the kids in the Camaro were going to pass me when I got on it and walked away from them (not for their lack of trying I might add) The kid driving the car wass acting like he wants another go (not gonna happen in that traffic), but the kid riding in the passenger seat had a look on his face like he wasn't too sure what happened, or if my GTS just did what he thought it just did

What year is your LeBaron? Those cars could go through hell and back, my uncle had a '78 that started up and drove everyday for the 15 year span that he had it. The owner who owned it for its first 5 years pampered it and knew my uncle, but my uncle certainly didnt pamper it. It got DRIVEN to the junkyard with about 185 K miles. He had to replace the transmission once, that was all lol. I dont know if he ever tried a burnout but, knowing my uncle, im sure he tried.

Mine was and I believe Magnums is also the '85 model, Mine was the GTS hatch sedan, but I'm not too sure which body Lebaron Magnum has (I want to say they had atleast a half dozen different K-Car platforms that used the Lebaron nameplate in that chassis' 12 year run.

yes mine is an 85', its a 4 door and it has a normal car type trunk, so which ever body style that is. BTW my LeBaron for an unknown reason hates Cummins. I had raced a Grand Am and that was when I was breaking cv's everytime I tried to race and I was afraid to race normal. So I didn't spool the turbo like usual and the kid beat me by 1-2 feet in a quarter, So my g/f ex husband had a 2005 cummins and he race the kid and beat him by 4 truck lengths, so the kid told him to race me that I would be easy, I refused cause my car is gettin old and alot of miles, but that just brought out the taunts and chicken names, so instead of givin him a beat down, I decided to try to embarass him, so we line up and go and he stalls on the line(took of in 3rd gear) and I beat him by 4 lengths, so rematch, we take off and he "missed a shift" (yeah bull) I win by 6, so last race he gets me on the take off and I beat him 7, that kid in the Grand Am is still confused.

Some LeBarons had turbo 2, right? Tell them you got a 4 cyl., they laugh, tell them you changed the computer, and they think about the computer swaps that might get a mid 80s v-8 camaro or mustang 5 horses, they laugh more, run them and you laugh '87 Shelby Z stage one

Pulled a stunt like that once in my Acclaim t1 2.5. A bud had just bought a little Eldo with a 4.9 V8, pulled up nest to us in town. THe light turns green, he smokes the fronts and takes off. At the next light, I switched the AC off, and my crew knows it's gonna happen. The kids are cheering, the wife is glaring, and the light went green. Had him by a fender at the 1-2, and the rear doors at the 2-3. THe next light I look over, and it was my bud! At church he wanted to see what my granny-car had. I pulled the hood and he about messed on himself to see it was a 4! LOL! :-)PCRMike

Really, Mike. Racing on your way to church? Now wouldn't it have been something if it was your pastor in the Caddy!

LOL! He isn't afraid to punch the monster 440 Crew Cab I built him. He can stand a mustwang on it's ear with that. I did that motor up right. He isn't one for competition, but he isn't afraid to scare the devil out of you either! LOL! :-)PCRMike
