Default Back strip on back of car

I have a 69 dart swinger 340 that i'm puting a bumblebee stripe accross the back end of the car. I ordered the stripe and noticed that it does not go compleatly to the bottom of the rear quarters. It is about a 1/4 inch short. When I called year one they said that is the way the stock bumblebee stripe fits, is this true
