That's all the pics I have at the moment, and sorry, but I didn't realise, the pic I referred to earlier is on the 'your first mopar' thread, not this one. Anyway, it's among those in that batch. |

It's been too long!
Hi all, I haven't posted in a long time, but I look here ALL the time. I subscribe to this thread, just to see everyone's progress\nice rides. That is a nice Challenger garzdogg! Also, to everyone else -KEEP UP THE GREAT PICS!- It's great to keep seeing more and more great MOPARS. I figuered why I was here I'd update my 'Doba pics, and see if I could stop getting that message ("Hello smite71 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?"). It sometimes keep me up at night......... Anyway I did the ignition swap from FBO, and cleaned up the engine compartment a bit. Fixed the small dent in the passenger side front fender, and put some wheels I had lying around in the garage on her. Got the back brake problem figured out. Had new exhaust put on, single for now, (maybe after a HP boost I'll go with duals), and a general clean-up. It's getting there. Just waiting for warmer weather here in IL. to do some more on it. Hope to see 'ya all again soon!

Well, I've finally got my VG up to Dave's place so he can put it in the queue for the bodywork to be done...
Remember, this is an Aussie Valiant with the 245 Hemi 6 in it. Borg-Warner 35 automatics in this model, or 3-speed Borg-Warner manual. Mine's automatic... for now. Had a good trip up from Coffs Harbour, though it wasn't without problems altogether. After finding the left rear brake adjuster had fallen out of place, I then had a line failure to the rear and had to isolate the rears... drove on using only the fronts. And I had to fix a bit of a fuel leak before I left... modern fuel doesn't do the flexible lines any good at all! Note the puff from off the extractors at the bottom (oh, and I had some company in one of the cars I rode in going down... hitch hiked from Stanthorpe, this was my Glen Innes to Grafton ride): Here's the former owners farewelling me from Grafton: They're not happy about having to sell the car, having bought it back a year or two ago (but not used it in that time) because it was their wedding car. I've promised them first offer if I ever decide to sell. Got cruising along out of Grafton, but I wondered why it sounded so noisy! I'd wound down the left front window, and for a while I thought that might be why, but no... 10kms along it finally dropped into top gear! No problems with it before Grafton... strange... then another 20kms it was getting a little warm, then it suddenly dropped into second again. What wants automatics? Not me... I coasted down a couple of big hills, that brought the temp down, then it got back into top and stayed there the rest of the trip. Phew! We were headed for the Gibraltar Range, a nice climb towards Glen Innes, there are lookouts on the way up: These ones with the farming flatlands stretching out into the distance are first class, but I didn't mind the one with only mountains to be seen either: Needless to say, I was keeping up a fair pace. Really enjoying my first drive of my new car, you could say. The road was saying, "Come on, enjoy yourself!" and I did... The rainforest gave way to tablelands in time, then I noticed a sign that gave a much shorter distance to Tenterfield than I'd expected. Hooked around there and saved 40kms! Along the way, of course, I needed to refuel... ...but I made it safe and sound to Dave's place, where it has a bunch of Val company: At home again, I'm sorting out which A833 to fit, and Tim Knight's all arranged to get the steel cut for the adaptor to fit it up to the Hemi using a small block bellhousing. I've got to go and pick up the Peugeot seats to instal (worst part of driving the car was the seats) and I'll be getting my Konis next time I go south. Don't know how long Dave and Lindsay will take with the bodywork, but I have other things to do, another car to drive and another project to work on anyway. As long as it turns out right. |

Ray, what kind of wheels are those?
|
#978

||||
|
||||
They're the style wheels that were fitted as an option to some models from '71 onwards, standard on our Charger (that's a Valiant Charger) in anything that was remotely sporty, IIRC. They are plentiful... and I reckon they look good...
Here's a couple of pics, they're pretty much the equivalent of your 'Rallye' wheels: Actually, this car should be on alloy wheels, which were standard with the triple Webers... this one is a later car, right wheels, but the paint's been done up a bit: I believe they were made by ROH (Rubery Owen Holdings) who supplied wheels to all the makers here at some time or another. These were exclusive to Chrysler products, were also used on the Centura, which was a French car adapted to Aussie conditions. It was a Chrysler 80, but most sold here had a Hemi 6 engine in them. Pics are from the CAVOA website, their show gallery pages. And here's a closer pic of one that badly needs painting. Yes, mine will be going back to the original silver colour, maybe with a black or red pinstripe highlight on them. |

Mine is a 67 Coronet. She used to run a nice reliable 318. Low compression and a little slow compared to the jap stuff. Couldnt stand having to keep quiet around the jap cars so i decided to build something with a little more Poke. 390 cube forged stroker, flat tops with Edelbrock heads and an air gap manifold with 750 hp carb. Runs 11.5:1 comp and 98 octane. I was hoping for 470 HP, but with the right hand drive conversion for Australian roads, i couldnt get the headers in. So she is running stock manifolds and a twin 2&1/2" system, and puts out 403Hp at the moment. Rack and pinion set up is next so i can fit the headers and tune her for 470. Then fit 150 or 200 of gas for the strip.
