Default 1965 sport fury

hi everybody, I need some help....

A friend has a 65 Sport Fury with the vin number(P452290022) and the next fender tag

my question is if the AB indicates the engine and 80 means that the car has a 426 street wedge, why my friend's car has another motor? of course a small block (i think) i don't know how to identify it....

distrrributor in the rear = small block, in front = big block. If an original "small block", the valven covers should be attached with two cwnter bolts, if a BB, six bolts in the flange.

ok the car has a small block, but then the number 80 above the letters AB(on the fender tag) żdoesn't it mean that the car has a 426 street wedge? Thanks

Hi everybody,

It's hard to say but my friend sold the 1965 sport fury to the junk yard so it was destroyed. I know that he's so stupid but what can I do? He rescued the vin number plate and the fender tag but do they have some value? Are there collectors that buy those plates?

...and unethical to sell the fender tag, though it's pretty useless if it doesn't match the VIN.

Both are worthless, except possibly in the memories of the previous owner(s).

Not illegal to sell, only illegal to use for nefarious purposes. Some people collect VIN tags just like coins/stamps.

No such thing as a VIN # on a 1965 automobile... VIN#'s came out in 1969. Earlier #'s were serial numbers...

Early vin's were a hodgepodge of numbers until a uniform ID system was adopted in 1981.

The VIN has been around since at least 1954. The government required a VIN tag visible from the outside of the car starting in 1968. Prior to that the VIN location/format varied with the manufacturer
