Dodge did not have the Rapid Transit System. That was a Plymouth thing and it was brought out in 1970.

Road/Track?
I think that's more likely, especially as there was a lot of track racing involvement at the time. Certainly in Australia that's what it stood for on our Valiant Chargers. |

Pretty sure it is Road and Track.

My next Mopar was a 1967 Hemi Charger that I still have. |

My first Mopar
Back in 1963 my dad and I found 62 Plymouth Fury at a place called Leonard Elys in Menlo Park Calif. It was an ought combination of hardtop, 413 and 3 speed on the column. I loved that ugly car and I wished I'd have kept it.Fate stepped in in late 66, I sold it and got a 67 GTX which I still have today. Which one would be worth more today? I'm not sure I really want to know.

We shall overcome
Hey smokescreen, are you the original owner?? If you are you're older than me and I'm 64. My dad had a 49 a 52 and a 53 Desoto and I remember them all. They had those weird clutch, clutchless shifting transmissions if I remember right. Anyway, thanks for your feedback...Sig:

That is a nice looking ride. Do have any more pics? As far as your alternator swap goes, you shouldn't have a hard time. I switched mine over to electronic from mechanical regulator without much effort.. I got my regulator from Year One back in 74 when I switched to gold box ignition from points. Never had any problems. Too bad you couldn't keep your Landrover also but I think you made the right choice. Good luck...Sig

You might get lucky
The electronic reg. is a pretty simple fix. It comes with simple directions. You might want to hit the junkyards, they have all sorts of brackets. Maybe even some old vehicles. Old mopar alternators are pretty easy. Good luck...Sig

It's really very easy to make a MoPar alternator work in your car, and it will look like it belongs there.
I really don't know why people think a gm one wire is the ultimate solution. Just my opinion, but looking under a MoPar hood and seeing a gm part makes me ill. Then again it is your car and you can do whatever you like to it. |

There is no MoPar one wire. Do some reading and research and you will see how to make a MoPar alternator work.

Good luck.
Mopar runs a dual field alternator with a hot lug. I'm gonna have to agree with Old Woolie, but like he said it's your car. I'm just wondering, how is it Canada has so many mopar freaks? I mean this out of respect....Sig

If that is in the same family as "A" 318 poly then Edelbrock may have some finned aluminum ones hidden away. I never knew they made so many poly motors...Sig

Now you'llhave me cryin'
MY FIRST MOPAR Was a 1969DODGE CORONET R/T 440Magnum, Ramcharger air induction, automatic{yeah I know} got it used in 1974 AUGUST ,graduated high school in june, THIS WAS MY 1ST CAR & my first MOPAR, It was autmn bronze metallic ,black vinyl top,all black hiback bucket interior, rallye gage pkg, I never lost a race with it,& it had unreal top end, it had 3.23 rear, it would bury the speedo. 1- 5- 0 !!! And if you don't believ it would ,now hear this: there is a road outside town going up to the next town, it is relatively straight, with afew hillsit is 12 miles away {measured} OK, One late afternoon I picked up a friend of mine who hadn't seen the car or been in it yet, we were rolling past this big outdoor clock on a bank, it said 5:00,we started out of town on that straight road when we got out of village limits I opened it up & stayed on it, we were coming up on cars & passing them so fast it was ablur, that frontend cameup, that sound when the four barrel openned... We saw cars in the oncoming lane, well we turned around at the other town, & I openned it up again& we passed the cars going back that we saw as we were on the way up! When we got back we went past that clock, it said 5:12 that was 24 miles in 12 minutes!!my buddies watch confirmed it was right. that was my first MOPAR, my first car, I was only 18,& we had alot of fun with that DODGE, I took on all comers & never got beat ,it got stolen one night & I swear to this day if I ever find out who took her they'll be in the obituaries . |

MY 67 GTX came with an 8 3/4 and 3.23s, also an auto. That's nothing to be ashamed of. I used to run from Phoenix to San Francisco in the 70s before I- 10 west bound was there to Blythe. It was 167 miles, all but the first 35 was open desert two lane through Wickenburg. I'd make it in under 90 minutes but the hemi would suck my tank dry. Them big old mopars are one hell of a road car. Sure do miss those days.

Then YOU definitely know what I'm talking about,& understand, I miss those days terribly, those bigblock Mopars were the fastes thing on the road ,top end nothing but euro supercars could catch'em. My2nd car was a '69 roadrunner, 440 supercommando ,4SPEED this car was fun!
3rd car was '67 FORMULA "S" Barracuda 340-4SPEED It was nowhere near as fast as the CoronetR/T or the ROADRUNNER. It was black, with white interior, like to have that one today,I'd stuff a HEMI in it,tub it ,glass frontend,YEAH... |

My first car was a 65 Satellite with buckets and a console. Swapped out the 318 for a 383 hi po using a manure loader on the front of a Farmall H in my Dads front yard. He gave me hell saying that gas was going to 50 cents a gallon and I would not be able to afford to drive it! That was 1970. The only cars that beat it were the 440s. Got a lot of tickets...
