I had a 1970 Plymouth fury 3 383 2b auto. I bought it in 1988 for $200 It was my 3rd car. drove the crap out of it for two years until the transmission went out. after that I had a 1974 Plymouth Volare slant with od 4sp Great car drove it for years until it rusted out then sold it for what I payed for it. then I bought a 1988 Plymouth Voyager van 3.0l biggest POS I ever owned. I prefer Ford products but will buy a mopar if the price is right. currently I just bought a 1980 dodge d150 slant 4sp od for $60 drove it home and put about $150 into it and runs good.

My first car
When I was 17 my then brother in law was a Mopar fanatic. He helped me buy a 67 Coronet RT minus motor or trans. This was 1973 ,for the sum of a whopping $160.00.he helped me(I watched)install a 361 big block he had around with the 727 behind it ,though it was an original 4 speed car.Yep,I was hooked.
The first car I took a loan out on was when I turned 18.I borrowed $1600.00 in 1975 for a 71 Charger RT,Which I have managed to hang onto. Also I currently have a 69 GTX,original motor with a 4 speed.Cool car but it was ordered minus the power steering so it is a handful in a parking lot. |

My very first mopar was of all things a 1976 short box half ton van with a /6 and a three on the tree.I was only 13 at the time and couldn't drive so i junked it like a moron. The first mopar i could drive was my 1972 road runner but in actuality it was like my fourth or fifth mopar.Right before my RR I had a 79 dodge magnum with a 360 and a lean burn[yuck] loved the body style hated the emissions junk.

Yeah,Chrysler took over the Rootes group in 1968 I think. The Rootes group of cars at that time were Commer,Hillman,Humber,Singer and Sunbeam.
My Stiletto had the pentangle badge on the front wing. |

I'm a newbie to Mopar Chat. My first Mopar was a new 1963 Dodge 330 with a 383 and a TorgueFlite trans. I loved that car, and only lost a couple of races on the street - one to a 426 Dodge. After I joined the Navy my mother sold the car. I am retiring in June, and hope to get a 1963/1964 Dodge or Plymouth to joy ride around in.

Quote:
This meant that Chrysler were producing little 4-cyl Simcas as well as the larger Vedette, Berlieu etc models that used the old side-valve Ford V8 engine. These cars had a small (2350cc) version of the flathead Ford, while the trucks the company made (Unic?) and other military vehicles used the larger (4.2-litre) Ford V8s, but all were made in-house by Simca using the factory bought from Ford. Then in the early to mid-sixties, Chrysler bought into the Rootes Group. Among their models was the Sunbeam Tiger, which came with a 260 cubic inch small block Ford. Some effort went into trying to shoehorn a 273 LA into them, but there simply wasn't room. Instead they built half a dozen prototype Humber Snipes with the 273, but decided against going into production (the basic car was a design from about 1958) and instead imported the Australian built Valiants, including the V8 models, into England. Another 'brand' in the Rootes line-up was Talbot, allied with Sunbeam, but unused since the early fifties. And among the trucks there was the Commer's baby brother, the Karrier. |

My first Mopar
My first Mopar was a 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 Convertible I bought in '69. It was a 383 4barrel 4 speed, 3.91:1 SureGrip, 8.75 rear end, glass back window, daffodil yellow, black interior and top, pb, ps, power top, a beauty. I sold it after using it every day for a few years. Sure wish I had it back.

1967 Satellite
My first MOPAR was 1967 Satellite - 383, 4-bbl, 727. It's the first car I paid for (previous ones were family hand-me-downs) and I still own it after 23 years. So I think it's fair to say I'm hooked.

But I do have a new motor, trans, and clutch. and the car was free. : ) |

68 dodge charger. bought it for 600 dollars out of a junk yard when I was like 20, but man was it rough. had to drag it up on the roll back because the wheels were gone! dukes of hazzard got me started, and mopar muscle got me hooked. I'm now 30, and have a 67 belvedere drag car, 72 360 duster street car, 77 volare wagon survivor, and currently building a 76 volare drag car. have owned many darts, dusters, and chargers in the last 10 years. It's a disease that we all are glad we've caught

what was your first Mopar?
Chopped '46 Plymouth business coupe, with'55 DeSoto bone-stock hemi, and the '46 manual transmission. Top was chopped using the Rod and Custom small magazine article, which ran for about a year, for instructions. When we finished it, we naturally sold it, and I have missed it ever since.

My first car was a 72 Charger with a 383 magnum. Along the years I've probably owned about over 35 or so different Mopars, cars and trucks. But my favorite's are Duster's.

MOPAR fever
My first MOPAR was a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. It was the first car I ever rode in, as a matter of fact I was almost born in that car. It was my dads first car that he had bought himself in 1971. Now it is back home with me and I couldn't be happier. The car sat for a while when I was a kid and my dad would haul where ever we moved to!! thanks DAD!! When I was 15 me and my dad got the car running again and it was the first time i ever drove it, WOW!! then I really got the MOPAR fever. Then in my 20's My dad signed the car over to me. I did some work on it, drove as a weekend cruiser. I went to college when I was 30 for A&p license, my brother stored it in Salt Lake for a while, I just got it back last weekend, thanks bro!! I guess you could say that car is a family tradition. Now I'm 38 years old and I think I am finally ready for this car, and I'm sure that some day I will hand it down to my son!!

Still have my first car from High School
I bought my first car at the age of 16 in 1968, a
'56 Plymouth with the 277 Polyhead and Powerflite trans. I still have it; just finished the paint & body, rebuilt the front NOS suspension/added 12" discs and am working on the rear disc brake kit. It will receive my 402" Poly Stroker motor for a bit more HP&Torque. Gary Pavlovich |

first Mopar, which I bought in 1975 and paid $300.00 for it, was a 67 Barracuda, 273, 4barrel, auto on the floor w/consel. It was a medium copper w/black interior, and the body was perfect. After I had it about a year, a friend totaled out his 70 Cuda, 440-6 and sold me me the shaker set up for $10.00 which I immediately installed on my 67. Loved that car!
