1st: In 1979 I was 18. 1968 Satellite 383 727. Paid $300. Drove and sold for $500.
2nd: In 1983 1969 GTX 440 mag, 4-speed Dana rear 3.55: Paid $3200 sold for $3800. 1 Had to sell 4 years later for a Caravan when children were born. I still have repeating dream of finding this car in my garage covered with canvas. The car I find is in tough shape and I'm shocked and concerned. Then I wake up. If I only new. I would have kept the car and my kids could have walked! The only Dodges I have owned is my truck and the mini van. All cars were/are Plymouths. Not sure it means anything, but just something I noticed. |

My first Mopar was the family 69 Fury 2 door slanter... 3 on the tree and a single hole holley. Then I started drivin' my Dads 74 newport sedan with a 318, sweet cruiser. Ah... the good old days... I had a Grand caravan in the 90's when the kids showed up and later a 300M after the 1st wife went insane and left... freedom was good. I also have my good old 95 Dak 4x4 that I will never part with, my huntin' truck. Now my fairly sane 2cnd wife lets me tinker with the 69 charger in the garage to my hearts content, says it's better than a mistress!

Mine was a '48 Dodge 5 passenger coupe, that I purchased in 1958.
I cannot post a link, 'cause I'm new here, but if you google "lilredex webshots" it will bring it right up, along with about fifty years of other stuff. Still drivin' those Mopars today. |

Mine was a run of the mill copper colored (orig) 74 Charger. Previous owner repainted yellow w/bumble bee stripe. Bought it for a cool grand with a non-original 440 in the trunk. My dad and I bought a 69 block and put it in it. Had loads of good times in the front and back seats of that car!

dont know if mine qualifies, but i bought myself a 318 engine off a 77' m886. incredibly rare find in my neck of the woods. american vehicles are exceedingly rare, and even if there are some left, almost all have the gas motors swapped out for jap diesels.
so yeah.... thats my 1st MOPAR,... an as-of-yet non running 318/727/np203 which i hope to build up soon. |

in 2000 I knew nothing about muscle cars at all. I knew what a mustang and camaro looked like and that was it. growing up my brother and I loved the Dukes of Hazzard, and i made a vow that i would own a general lee one day. bought a 69 charger with a 440 in 2001 and outta luck it had a new orange paint job on it. saw a magazine one day with a charger on the cover, and bought it to just check out the charger. the magazine was mopar muscle, and when I opened it I fell in love on every page. road runners, challengers, darts, dusters, cudas, demons, and even a wheel standing A-100 truck! never had I seen these cars even at 20 years old. fell in love with the brand, and went crazy about auto mechanics and performance work. I now own a 67 belvedere street strip car with a 440, a duster 340 street car, and a 71 dart swinger drag car with a 408. I drag race every weekend and love being the only guy there with a mopar. makes it even sweeter that I've led the points most of the season this year. hope to win the championship and add another trophy to mopars credit. I still love mopars because they over engineered there drive trains to the point of almost can't break one if you properly maintain them. over 300 passes on the belvedere with 4.30 gears, and still runs 7.60s in the eighth mile, and have not had to touch a thing. How can you not love that?!

First car was a POS Pontiac 6000LE.. wrapped it around a pole.
6 months later (6 months without a car btw) and my dad felt bad for me. He gave me a 67 VIP 4dr H/t with 383. Body had plenty of filler, but looked decent. Mopar was definately tired, but it really helped me cut my teeth on turning wrenches (I had to learn as I had no funds and the car had plenty of issues). But I fell in love with the big C-Body platform, the over and under headlights, the massive grill, couch seating, and glowing green gauges. I've not looked back since... oh the memories. Unfortunately, the old VIP is now sitting in the weeds, home to many critters. I don't see it ever being restored, but it has provided many parts for my restored 67 Fury III Convertible and 67 Sport Fury Fast Top. |

1971 Dodge Power Wagon in 1976. Still have it today. Has a 383 in it now. Came out with a sweet 318. Swapped engines from free or cheap junkers for years to keep it going (pulling home an old car was cheaper that parts back then). The 383 came from a Polaris someone left it at a car dealer for ten years. Evidently after they had several thousand dollars worth of work done on the car. They must have decided they did not want the car anymore. The dealer gave it to me to get it out of his lot.

1956 Plymouth with 318 Poly Stroker power
My first car from High School is a 1956 Plymouth that I purchased in 1968. I still have it and am currently rebuilding it from the ground up.
The drivetrain is updated and the engine is still a Poly, abeit, a Stroker Poly that should be a suprise for extra HP. Gary |

71 Cuda
I've had mine for 12 years and finally have some time to work on it. Just put poly bushings, sway bars and had Firm Feel rebuild the steering gear(stage 2) it's like a new car. Last year I put a set of MB Old School 17x9.5 wheels with 275/40-17 all around and now I'm building a 372 stroker from a 340 block for it. It gets way more looks/fans than a Camaro or Mustang and the value just keeps climbing.

'67 light blue Charger. 318, auto. I talked my Dad into ordering this car for the family ride in '67. I was 12 years old and already a Mopar gearhead fanatic. He traded it two years later for a 69 Fury III. Bought it back two years later from the people who bought it when he traded it in. Everybody in the family hated to see that car go and we were glad to see it come back. I drove it through high school and college right up to the time that I got married. Traded it and a '72 Demon on a new '79 Omni.

My first year with a license I got a 71 dart swinger special 225 auto on the column. followed closely by a 70 dart swinger v8, a 68 gt no engine and the family 67 dart 270( my fave!) W/ 273 guts -steel crank, rods, solid lifter cam and x heads in a 318 with 2bbl, auto 727, Ltd slip. She would just light both tires up till you quit. She was killed by a drunk lady r.i.p. my sweet little dart. That still breaks my heart 22yrs later. still stuck on mopar!
ps all 2door hard tops |

My first Mopar was a '65 Valiant Signet
My first Mopar was a '65 Valiant Signet I paid $400 for in 1972. It had a 170 (later bored .030 over with .1" shaved off the head) and three-on-the-tree. It was yellow with black bucket seats and interior. I upgraded the suspension so it was very similar (at least in my mind) to a Formula S "Cuda. When Uncle Sam thought I should see the Far-East, I lent it to my little brother -- he didn't take very good care of it, and it was gone. Man, I wish I still had that car.
