The MOPARs I grew up with were my dad's '49 DeSoto, his '56 DeSoto, my mom's '63 Chrysler 300. My first MOPAR was a '66 Plymouth Satellite with the 383 4 barrel that I got for my high school graduation present. I later put in a 440 and other goodies in it. Loved it until a 16 year old girl got in her 2nd accident within 2 weeks of getting her driver's license, this time hitting my Plymouth. It wasn't damaged too bad but her insurance company made me take it to a body shop of their choice that used cheap quality parts. The rear fender that was crushed was replaced with heavy duty foil - the side was so thin that it would would buckle in when I wiped it with a towel and I then had to open the trunk to pop it back out again. And the new paint came off onto the towel.

My mom believed that once a car was in an accident it was no good anymore and should be replaced so I got a '70 Duster 340 for my college graduation present. (The story of it will be posted under the topic: What was your second MOPAR.)

My first was a '56 dodge when I was 16. I don't really miss it to much (3 tone grey paint, 4 doors, 2spd. pushbutton auto) but wish I had most of my other mopars back. 64 Plymouth, 68 Fury, 65 Barracuda, 71 Barracuda, 77 Dodge truck. I have never owned anything but Mopar.

72 Plymouth Fury II 318ci 2v , this thing was an ex city of san diego waterdept car. Big ol boat it was, but that didnt stop it from layin down 50' 1 leggers with a stomp of the gas. Did great power brake smoke shows too!! . One time we had the speedo pegged at 120 comin back from santa cruz and when we hit the dips in the freeway it felt like the body was connected to the frame with rubber bands. The trunk fit 2 teens confortably for the driveinns. Well as most teens do i finally beat the car to its demise, after braeking a motor mount while doin a nuetral drop in safeway underground parking the motor came up into the hood and put a big ol dent, then 3rd gear and reverse went out, then the pass door got ripped off cus someone left it opened as we were pushing it backwards....oh well it was really fun and since then ive always loved mopars!!

69 Superbee, dark blue with cragar SS rims and L50-15's. 383 + .06, edlebrock trantula with holley 750 dbl pumper. Accel wires and mopar duel pt dist, 2.5" headers,
727 with winters reverse manual valve body with 4000 holeshot to a dana 4.10 rear. 3 spd hurst slapstick out of my buddys rail "spirit of america". I still regret not bringing it to the track for times. This was one STREET SCREEMING MONSTER.
25 years later and still going to psyco therapy to find out why I ever got rid of it.

My first mopar was at 18 years old. I bought a 74 Dodge Charger with a 318 2bbl. It was a one owner car with bucket seats, power windows, electric clock, console and a hand crank rollback sunroof. I had to sell it when the 318 finally expired. My second mopar was a 69 Dart Swinger 340. This too, was a one owner car with 70K original miles. It had a bench seat, auto on the column and zero options. I really regret selling it. An interesting coincidence is that after I sold it, it went through several owners and ended up in Pa. This owner had it at Carlisle years later and sold it to a teenager who happened to live about a mile from where I lived when I owned it. My third mopar was a Neon. Not much else to add to that. I now have a 67 Chrysler Newport Custom 4dr. This too, believe it or not was a one owner vehicle with 125K miles. I'm still working on this one. It's a 383 2bbl that I have added an electic fuel pump, electronic ignition, new dual exhaust, paint and more. I actually plan on keeping this one for a while.

My first car I picked up at an abandonded vehicle auction for $100. It was a 73 charger with a 318 2bbl and bad 904. Ireplaced the 904 with a 727 robbed from a friends wrecked Cordoba. The car sat for a year and all I had to do put a little gas in the carb and she fired right up. The only problem was the insurance companies did not like the idea of a 17 year old driving a "Charger".
Funny how i could not get insured on a Charger but they would insure me on my second car, A 77 Cordoba with a 360 4bbl that could run circles around the Charger.
My 3rd mopar was a 93 Dakota 4x4 with a 3.9 that thought it was a V8. Itraded that in for real hauler a 94 ram 1/2 ton with a 360 which has pulled two cars on a flat bed at once half way across the country with no problems. My poject currently in the garage is a 72 Scamp I picked up for free. It's going to be the home of a 451 stroker. should scream. If you can't tell I'm like the most of you; mopars are the best!

I was 16 in 1993, it was a 70 superbee with about 50 lbs of bondo in the quarters (free from my old man). I put in a 77 ex squad 440 ($75) with some 2inch headers (free). An old spread bore holley(the price of a rebuild kit) and a 3.23 posi at no charge from my dad. The most expensive part on it was the 4 new tires. I never lost a race with it. Then one sunday afternoon about a year and a half later I pulled out in front of an omni, He was going 55. I drove it home but it was too tweaked to repair, also pretty rusty. The engine and trans are now in a 70 coronet 500. I still have the Bee, it is and always will be my favorite Mopar.

My first was a '88 Dodge shadow 2.2 turbo it wouldn't squeal the tires in first gear but it would smoke them in second. I totaled that car then got a '90 Plymouth Sundance I beat the hell out of that. After 1 tranny I put a used one in and gave the car to my sister. Then I bought a '73 Dodge Heavy 3/4 ton Camper Special 400 Big block. Quite a nice truck.

Sorry to go off topic again but...hey ChrisianCuda,Maxwedge, and Realmuscle. The definition of a muscle car is a mid size body with a big block engine right? Well, did you guys forget about the REAL muscle cars? The 1962 Max Wedge cars! Sure, their styling wasn't the coolest but the could still open a can on a GTO!
Back to topic. My first Mopar was a 70 Roap Runner, Vitamin C orange, blackhood stripes, with a 383 4bbl, Hemi 727 column shift, 3.23 8-3/4 Suregrip. No other options except PS! Loved that car! Police got it. Long story.

My first car....In 1976 I bought a 1968 Chrysler New Yorker off a Pa. State trooper who used it as his undercover car. 383-4barrel,3:91 posi,it was just to cool!! My first trip down a drag strip with it was a 15.28. I thought I was doing 200mph but actually it was somewhere around 84 or 85mph. It had some carb and distributer work and a Racer Brown cam. My brother in law in Clearwater,Fl. had the ultimate undercover
car,a '73 or 74 360 Road Runner!!

My first MoPar was a 68 Hemi Roadrunner and it was brand new. A grad. gift from my father. Yellow over black, 4 speed, Dana 60, and a GM Killer from the word GO! My next two MoPars came in 71 when I bought a new Dart and a 69 GTX 440/6. The Dart stayed stock for about a year (225 6cyl auto) in late 72 we took it completely apart sold the 225 and installed the Hemi, the trans, and a very modified dana in the dart. All of this hardware had been recovered from the roadrunner after it was wrecked. The 69 GTX had 16000 miles on it when I bought it in 1971, and 36000 miles on it when I sold it in 1986. It was a wonderful car. Big muscle and great looks. The absolute best part was when I sold the Dart (now with the Hemi in it) to the guy whose heavily modified 454 Chevelle lost 9 out of 9 races to me and the Dart. You should know that he was and still is a good friend and we've help each other turn many a wrench. He drives a Ram Pick up, and his wife has a Intrepid. I still have a couple of MoPars too; a van and a 72 Dart, among others. I've owned at least one MoPar every day of my life for the last 32 years. Damn good cars, DAMN GOOD!

Well, I come from a totally Mopar backround. Ever since I can remember my father owning his first car, 1956, we never had anything but Mopars in the family.
They were:
1953 Coronet (cream w/balck top)
1955 Coronet (black and yellow)
1962 Pioneer (blue) 1st. NEW car
1966 Coronet 440 (bronze w/318) Learned to drive in this car.
1968 Charger (medium green met.) 383 4bbl., Magnum 500 wheels, vinyl top.

Then came my own Mopars.
1968 GTX (blue w/black interior) 4 spd. Hurst, 3.23 posi. (150mph and faster!!)
1969 Charger RT SE (copper with black interior and vinyl roof, auto, 2.76? rear. Fully loaded but SLOW out of the hole)
1974 Ply Sat. Sebring (dark green met w/half white vinyl roof) MY first new Mopar.
I have since owned a Chevy van, El Camino, Ford pickup, a couple Dodge Caravan panel trucks.
I currently drive a 1999 full size Dodge 1500van which I customized.
Sitting in my outbuildings are:
1949 B-1-B half ton pickup which I restored and is a consistant 1st. prize show winner in the Rochester, N.Y. area.
1988 D-150 SE pickup fully loaded and 360 4bbl. and 3.23 posi. which I ordered new and never sees bad weather. Only 33,000 miles. Moves real nice with some minor tweaks.
1970 Dodge Challenger (383 4bbl. auto, 2.76 rear, but I have 3.23 posi chunk ready to go in)
While I was driving my Mopar, my Dad bought the last Barracuda in Niagara Falls, N.Y. A 318, dark bronze with black interior
and auto. They moved to Fla. and traded it in for a Celebrity (gag me) because it had air cond.

Well, this is my Mopar saga! I've learned, to coin a phrase, it's Mopar or no car.

1965 Plymouth Barracuda. Silver with black racing stripes. 318 2bbl, 4speed, Power steering. Bone stock when I bought it in 1972 for $500 from a little old lady court reporter. Put Chrome reverse wheels with baby moon hubcaps on it at first then put on some Rally wheels from a '73 duster. I have owned 40+ some cars since then but I remember that one like it was today!

My 1st was in the early '70s. I was 12 and saw a 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook 4-door parked behind my dad's business. It had been off the road for a year, the body & interior were all in EC, and I wanted it. I paid the owner ten bucks for it (yes, $10!), put a battery & gas in it and drove it home. In rural Colorado, you can drive at 12 and not worry too much! It ran on five cylinders, but drove good. I pulled the head off the old 216 flathead mill and saw a hole where #6 piston should have been. Later inspection showed the piston and rod were at the bottom of the pan, next to the hole in the pan about quarter-size. A couple weeks later, I came across another Cranbrook, a '51. It ran great, but had no interior at all, so I paid this guy $10 for it, threw a milk crate in it to sit on, and drove the '51 home, as well. This was my first engine swap. I drove the car in the cornfield across the street for practice, and sometimes down the road a couple of miles. The heater and radio both worked, as did the dealer-installed accessory spotlight on the driver's side. OK, so it's not a Hemi Roadrunner, so what! I've owned over 400 cars and 40 trucks since 1972, 95% running & driving and the vast majority have been Mopar. I found an identical car here in OKC to my old '52. Haven't decided if I want to get it or not, we'll see. It is a near-perfect survivor car with original everything and only 32K miles...

Grew up riding around in my moms 69 valiant with a slant six, it was indestructable! First mopar of my own was 72 Charger R/T w/340. Worked on it every nite and spent every penny I made on parts! Sound familiar? More recently have owned 3 Dodge Rams, 1st 2 w/360ci, present one w/modified cummins 300hp and 600ftlbs of torque. My newest addition is a 71 Challenger R/T w/383 that I plan on stroking, cool! Its being shipped to CT from San Fran as we speak, can't wait! <><

Default My First Mopar

My first Mopar and first car was a 1964 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200 with a 273 2-bbl. Had more holes than metal. Ran it 3 1/2 years without spending one dime on it. I now have a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. I guess I like that style.

My first was a 1971 Plymouth Duster 225 w/ 904, bench seat, and Fenton aluminum slot mags that matched the air shocks that died every half hour. Since then, I've had 3 more Dusters, '74Dart Custom (which I currently own next to this Duster), 3 Dodge B-series vans, 1 1975 Plymouth Voyager van, '74 Charger SE 440, '68 318 Satellite, 2 Dodge D-series trucks, '67 Newport, '71 New Yorker, '73 New Yorker, '65 Belvi, '77 New Yorker, '47 Road King, '61 Adventurer (Desoto), '71 318 Challenger,'69 Coronet 440 wagon, and a '74 318 'Cuda. I still love my Dusters and '73-77 B150 vans.
