Angry Stupid move, Chrysler to kill off Grand Caravan

The dumbness of this move is incalculable. This is how a company spits on brand loyalty.
http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/...nivan-in-2013/
"Dodge is cutting off one of the hands that has fed it well for the past quarter century.

In an interview with Automotive News, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne revealed that the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan will die in 2013 and be replaced by a crossover utility vehicle."

It is a duplicate of the Chrysler T&C, which will be retained.

Which means either 1. The economy-middle class of minivan will be gone, or 2. Chrysler is being moved downmarket, no doubt to be eventually put out to pasture as well. Thing is, they've sold a lot more Grand Caravans than Town and Countrys, it just looks more and more like they are cutting a part of their customer base loose.

Phil, did you feel the same way when the Plymouth Voyager went away? Again, the same vehicle with different trim and a duplicate effort.

Voyager didn't really go away, it became a Chrysler. If Voyager had sold as much as Grand Caravan did, I would have felt the same.
Chrysler lost sales after ditching Plymouth, so yes, I was disgusted then too.
I just feel it's a bad move, just another in a series of them.
There's a lot more Grand Caravan owners than there T&C and Voyager put together, and that's not even considering the questionable logic of coming out with another SUV in a crowded and some say dying segment of the market.. A company should reward loyalty and good sales, not throw it in the trash.
