66 Coronet 500 and 10 inch rear wheels
Hi, Folks...
I have a 66 Coronet 2-door that will be getting a much needed facelift. I will be going thru the suspention front and rear. I'm wanting to go with the old Super Stock look or sleeper look as we called it as kids....painted steel wheels with the dog dish hub caps. IMO that look is sooo sharp! The question: will 10 inch wheels fit under the rear of the Coronet? It dosent have a full skirt like my 65 but the top of the fender does hang down over the top of the tire. Id prefer to stay away from spring shackles and lifting the body higher. In fact, If the 10's wont work without lifting , Ill go with 8's as bad as I hate to. The first time I saw an old Belvedere with the 10" steel wheels, then, a 65 Coronet with the same set-up I knew I was in love. |

Unless someone else has your exact set up, this type of question will go unanswered forever. Best thing to do is measure clearances with your current wheel/tire combo, and start measuring & calculating. My thoughts are that with that style fender (my Dart has a similar shape) you will have a real difficult, maybe impossible, job trying to get anything 10" wide under there.

Thank you, brother. I have seen some old B bodys with Max Wedge and Hemis that had the 10 inch set-up but dont know if the rear-end had been modified...springs mounted in-board and so forth. I read in a previous post that a fellow with a '67 was wanting something similar with 15 inch rims and a 60 series tire....it was do-able but He had to jack the body WAY up to get the tires on. That being said, I figure my hopes for 10 inch rims are dashed, but now I know what will work!

I run 11'' section width tire on my '64 Plymouth with a 8.5" rim, it's a good fit . You do have to let the spring/axle droop to remove tire. Of course as was said in other post you'll have to measure to get the correct offset to make work.
