Probably the same sort of deal as the fears about ethanol in the fuel. If you're running 40-year-old components, the acetone might affect fuel lines and gaskets or whatever, adversely affecting a part that might not otherwise fail with plain fuel. But if you've recently gone through the entire system and put in brand-new parts, you won't have a problem.

Another point is that MOPEkid has talked of replacing the motor soon, so now might be the right time to play around with the current setup.
