Default end play on 8 3/4

having a hard time adjusting the end play I can get it adjusted on the passenger side but then the other side is still moving about a 1/16 of an inch or so. Is there a shim or something I'am missing or is that just the way it is. also to the bearings need to grease packed.

Also does anybody know where I can get a star adjuster lock for the drivers side adjuster. Thanks

There is supposed to be a block in the center section. The axles press up against it. When end paly is adjusted on one side, it is adjusted for both sides. If you are missing the center block or have shorter axles, you won't be able to properly adjust teh end play.

Snug it up, till you have zero endplay on either side.

Then back it off a little, till you have what you want. Measure with a dial indicator on the side opposite of the adjuster.

As Ed said, if the spacer block is missing etc, it won't work for you.

Guess thats why the non adjustable bearings are so popular. For less than a $100 you can have the new bearings pressed on and eleminate the problem forever. A couple of sources adjuster lock is the junk yard or maybe www.justsuspension.com

If worse comes to worst you can make the lock tab from scrap sheet metal.

If you are using the factory style bearings, then you should pack them with wheel bearing grease.
