Ok everyone, I think we all agree on the 16th to be the day. The track opens at 10am and closes, I believe, at sundown. I just wanted to get a big ad out for those who might have missed the other post. I propose we all meet at the track about 12 noon, race for a while, say till 3 or so, then go hit the local Hooters. If yall think we should eat first lets do that, just as long as we all agree on times before next saturday!

So heres the proposal, 12 noon at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, race till about 3, raid the closest Hooters and take in the view, umm, I mean eat and sit around and make fun of all the fords and chevies we whooped up on, and get some pics of the trucks.

Sound like a plan??

Any Revisions??

SML, I did not personally check but speedeamon did, I think he checked the website www.texasmotorplex.com for posted openings dates/times. I will double confirm it if you wish or if you want to feel free, never can be too safe.

I seen that today too, I gave them an email to find out what the hell happened. Hope we can still get out there, this would suck to get it all planned and they shut down last minute!!

How come all you Texas guys get to have all the fun???????? If we tried to get together in Ohio in December for a meet we would have to plow and salt the track before we could run. Be sure to take some pics for us, RT. Wish I could be there.

ITS CANCELLED TILL 2001. I got an email back from Texas Motorplex and they gave the reasons for shutting down the AAA street nights that had already been scheduled for December. There is a track someone was telling me about kinda like out towards the Texas Motor Speedway near Denton, anyone know the whereabouts and name I didnt get a chance to find out from him. He did say to stay away from Kennedale, they redid the surface and at the area where the 1-2 shift occurs its slick and TONS of cars are going into the rail each weekend, lots of pissed racers over that, I dont want my truck in the rail so Im staying away from there.

Heres the Email they sent me:
Quote:
I appreciate you letting me know you are disappointed the Motorplex will not
be open on Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 for AAA Street Days. A number of factors
played into my decision to cancel these two events.

Mainly, our inability to promote these events properly forced me cancel
them. While I will be the first to admit I underestimated the value of
internet sites like dfwstangs.com and ls1.com for promoting events we still
rely on direct mail as our main promotional tool. We could not get our
mailing out in time and therefore cancelled the event. In 2001 I plan on
making more of an effort to work with these sites to get information out to
the local racers.

Also, as many of you know we did not have the best end of the year schedule
as far as the weather. The Motorplex staff put in a lot of extra weekends
with rained out events and now I feel the need to just give my staff some
time off to be with their families. After I added the events I realized most
of us hadnÂ’t spent much time at home and if we were going to get recharged
for 2001 we needed to start doing than now. I should have thought of that
before we added the events but I knew there were racers out there who wanted
to race. I wanted to try and get some more events in so we could make some
money and I didnÂ’t look at the big picture.

Finally, I want to address the concern that the Motorplex doesnÂ’t care about
the street racer or the local racer. In this instance you got hosed. I admit
that. But overall I think we do a pretty good job of trying to fill the
niche with our Friday night program. I will always take suggestions. Next
year we will try and get more informal races in at the end of the year but
weÂ’ll just have to wait and see.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I understand if you want to go and race
somewhere else. I hope you will give us another chance in 2001.

Best Regards,
Elon Werner

Question

I guess we could play on an 8th, not as much fun as 1/4. Id much rather do a 1/4 mile run myself. If everyone doesnt mind gettin together to do some 1/8th runs I guess we could. SML, what days were they going to have street nights at that track? Anyone else think theyd like to play the 1/8th?

What about Hallsville Raceway in Hallsville, TX? They are usually open all year. It is over by the Longview, TX area. If everyone is interested in that then i can call them and make sure they will be open, i have their # on my racetrack file.
