Lightbulb hp gain from efficiency

I was just browsing through carparts and saw they carried high performance fans. Made out of aluminum. You think these are really better than our stock fans?

Default Been There, Tried That!

You can install one of these but you need an adapter kit and you loose your fan clutch. After alot of debate I decided against it and returned it! Although it's labeled as a 94-up Dodge Ram part, it ISN'T!! It won't work with the stock spacer!! I had the same exact fan, color and all.

Arrow Are Hi-Po fans really any good?

It seems to me that even the very best hi-performance fan operating without the benefit of the fan clutch would take a LOT more power to turn than a factory unit with the clutch free spinning as most do 95+% of the time. I have only had my fan engage twice It took 30 minutes of A/C on idle time the first time, and a full throttle pull (with a 7000 lb trailer) up a 7 % grade the second. Both times the fan did its job in under a minute and had disengaged again.

If were really trying to save drag, why couldnt we get an electric setup with enough capacity for a big V8/10? Thats almost horsepower loss free. Opinions??

true, if you did go for an electric fan it is almost loss free, but then requires the alternator the carge the little more for it so it still draws but not all of the time. my cousin suggested I use a pair of small fans from a caravan or K car and buy a thermostat and wire it myself for way less than these new ones, plus it gives me a chance to wander through another auto recyclers.

Default but..

most of the time electric fan setups are pretty expensive, if you end up buying a cheap one, it may not be sufficient for your engine and you'll overheat and lose power.

the ones in the k cars and minivans are about 1/4 the size of the rad and very thin, plus there are millions of them out there, if you need more cooling, get one for a turbo minivan.

Default truckperformance...

if truckperformance.com has it for 403, you'll definitely find it cheaper else where. I'd be weary of truckperformance.com as well, they don't really ship out goods very well. Takes them 4-ever to ship anything as little as light bulbs. Just my experiences from ordering numerious things from them

Good Luck.

That's actually a good price according to when I was looking. The lowest I found was $430 and it ran all the way up to $520

Default TP.com

I've ordered several thing from them and had no problems, or really slow delivery. The thing that I didn't like is the site (at the time) didn't show the order status or tracking information. Since they send out from the companies themselves, they don't know when it will ship either.

My .02!

Default truckperformance..

I agree with StarBandit...they truely don't know when your items ship, yet they always tell you "should be so-so business days". Just hope your stuff isnt on backorder. Occasionally I had some stuff on time, but most of the things I ordered were backordered. I waited half a year for my headers. Some items they sell are overpriced too. If I had to order something I really needed... I'd try carparts.com first (they have up to date emails and they tell you tracking and everything.) You can use coupons on their site as well.

Good Luck.

Default truck performance

Well since this thread has shifted topics, I'll put in my 2 cents.

I tried to order my Transgo kit from them and it kept getting dumped to back order. When I cancelled the order, it wasn't cancelled when the NEXT months credit card bill came. I called and was told that someone forgot to cancel the order. That's a NO NO for a mail order company. I called Summit and they had it to me in 48 hours.

I ordered my Extang Tonneau from them. I called during business hours on a Thursday but the order didn't get placed to Extang till the following Monday. ??? I was told I got my order in too late. I really needed it for a long trip so the cover didn't come in on time to use it. Minor but another lame excuse.

I no longer peruse their website.

I found the latest prices for flx-260 dual electric fans.

Summit racing - #379.95
Truck performance - 403.03 ($362.73 at checkout with free 10% discount)

I haven't heard many good things about TP. So would it be worth it to pay the extra and go with Summit?

I ended up with the 210B flex a lite.

After going over things I figured I didnt have the power to run those big boys with the 3pc pulleys. I am in a cooler climate so I can get away with this smaller 2500cfm that only draws 19.5 amps compared to the 30 the 260 draws.

My local parts guy sold me the 210B for $344+ tx. I can walk there so no shipping and I dont have to put money up front cause Im a long time customer. Took one day to get them in. Not only fast on parts, hes one of the faster guys at the track I hang out at so theres always good advice if I have a crazy idea.
He ran a 7.07@201mph 3 weekends ago in his outlaw vette. Very very nice.

Well, I still have my stock pullies and can't use underdrive pullies with my s/c and stereo equip. I also live in South Texas with the high heat. So I think it won't be too bad to run the 260.
