Lightbulb Ignition Pick-up

Yes, am talking like old days, had pickup in distributor, which told ignition box to fire coil.
As with my 74 cuda, but am helping friend with his truck, 1998 360 auto, 4x4 CC, my scan tool keeps reading misfire, number one cylinder.
I have 02 4.7 so am lost.
He was told by our local Dodge dealer that it is on fly wheel......to which I smiled...........DODGE didn't have fly wheel!!!!!

Crank is bolted to flex Plate, Torque converter to flex plate!
I am assuming that Magnum is same as old style motors....except for head mods!

Where does computer get engine position?
thanks

The cam position sensor is inside the distributor, the crankshaft position sensor is on the right side of the block near the oil pan rail.

If it were a problem with the CPS or the pickup, you would be getting a lot more problems than just the #1 mis-fire indication.

As was already stated, check the obvious stuff (cap, rotor, wires, plug).
